Chant Pre-Proposal

I think what you're doing is a really cool idea, and I love that funding important foundations and philanthropic/environmental work is part of your vision. I also think your plan is pretty reasonable in how you're using the technology and integrating it all. My concern is just how many artists really want to take advantage of "chants" in their music. It may be simply because of the genres that I listen to--I have a pretty substantial music collection, though--but I don't recall this kind of contribution playing a major role in most forms of music, and on that point, I'm not sure how much use or interest your product would see by other artists on a large, widespread scale.

So in other words, I love what you're doing and how you're facilitating it and your vision, but I'm just not sure that the product itself will be popular, or at least enough to justify this kind of expenditure. Do we have any market research available that suggests that this is likely to become widespread? I looked at your spreadsheets, but I'm not sure what your projections are based on. What makes the inclusion of crowdsourced audio more than just a gimmick? I can see a ton of downloads happening if some big name artist decides to implement this for a track or video or something and tells all their fans, but how do we know the likelihood of such an event?

Without some semblance of knowing the odds there, it seems like a big gamble. Having the proposal broken down in to multiple months of funding and with escrow definitely mitigates a lot of that risk for us, but I think if there was more assurance on the projected popularity of the project, it would do a lot to assuage potential concerns MNOs might have.

If you could address that, the rest of the project could definitely be a useful integration with a lot of great outcomes for all parties involved.
Hi Arthyron -
I trust you're well. ? Please to let you know that we posted our proposal a few hours back and just gone live. https://www.dashcentral.org/p/Dash-CHANT
If you get a chance to review and remark that would be much appreciated. Kind regards Dan

Thank you Santos, we have Green lit the escrow service through Dash core team- they have been really helpful. It has been useful receiving this initial feedback to refine the proposal. Hopefully you will like when you see next week. We've also had some more bands come on board and further gigs come in for in-house CHANT live testing band.

Thank you, for reviewing our pre-proposal. As we move from pre-proposal to proposal we have simplified taking on-board communities comments- the final proposal and a short film will be uploaded soon. Agreed you should be able to GET this fast. Thanks for that observation. The app is a music retail outlet. Every time the Chants are used by musicians it comes back as a different mix so always new and exciting for the fan. The fan is interested in the engagement with the artists and finding out how their voices have been used and joining the community of other fans who have participated in the song. It is therefore always a unique experience as every song is produced differently. Uploading the voice creates sonic footprints and this changes every time. This creates a unique piece of artwork that can go on pieces of merchandise. You can literally wear your voice that has planted a tree. The benefits to Dash is you will be the preferred payment mechanism with an audience of potentially tens of millions of music fans globally. We see this as a long-term relationship as we are able to market your Dash and get Dash wallets out to potentially millions of people. We are both disruptive services and this common link can be strong- certainly growing as Chant delivers large-scale audiences for Dash. The Dash Community can help develop Chant and Chant can increase your community 's size..... I hope this helps answer your questions.

Hello, I have 3 things:

-It's difficult to understand what the idea is about (is it a game? a store? charity?) . I think I kind of get it now, but it took too much effort. For this reason alone I would already not be inclined to vote.
-I'm not able to see the appeal of this app. People will be submitting their voices for the artist to use in remixes? Won't this get old very fast?
-The link with crypto and Dash is very thin, I don't think this proposal benefits Dash, not at this stage of your project.

All the best!

Hello! One suggestion, even so you put the link of the budget maybe you should make it more visible. It doesn't has to be the whole budget only something general and then you redirect to the link but something to show at first it's important, because it is quite an amount. Also, it is something the community already said, but consider scrowing your project bassically because it is a lot of money and MNO's trust it's important. Best of luck.

Dear Dash Community... This Chant proposal went live in the last cycle - it was posted very late in the month due to contractural work- We had six days in the voting period. The majority of the feedback was positive however people felt there was not enough time to evaluate the proposal properly. We were asked to represents and give a whole month. This work now is complete and the attached pre-proposal will go live in July for the August cycle. We will, of course, take on-board any comments that come up from this pre-proposal posting. Dan

Dear @Nick Chant,

My comment on DC was:
"I saw some intersting parts from my point of view.
unfortunately, the complexity and the time left to study this proposal. As well as the asking price in relation to the budget and the possible return on investment for Dash, make me vote no. I would not be against a smooth start with a smaller goal and a smaller funding request for the next cycle.
"

you come back with a proposition I'll take the time to study.

I'll start by sharing my impressions with you when I get to your proposal.

"Executive summary:
Dash's biggest Marketing opportunity so far!"

Please let us judge this.
1) - By just reading these first two lines there was a good chance that I would not read the rest, or with a negative impression from the start, looking for information that could further discredit your proposal. And I can't be the only one.

Why? In the MNO community, including myself, the relevance of promoting Dash artificially just to talk about it is increasingly questioned. In the sense, where it is more and more thought that if we fund adoption case proposals, the mainstream media will have matter to talk about us without having to pay promotion. Moreover promoting the use of Dash when it is relevant and sustainable by the project itself is the main goal.
even if your proposal is an adoption case, with this sentence you may lose the positive interest of the MNOs, from my point of view.

2) - It is missing, upon arrival on your proposal, how and why dash will be used.
Which is vital information for us right from the start.

3) - Your presentation is certainly very understandable by people of your trade or revolving around this industry, it has not adapted to me. The words the references the concepts and the jargon, are not accessible to the greatest number without making an effort of comprehension, or with the risk of understanding the things expressed, in erroneous ways.

4) - Personally, in 1st, I am interested in what it can bring the project to Dash, bury users and number of transactions. With a medium to long term perspective. But in numbers.
As for example this type of presentation :
Highlights
  • Dash Exclusivity: yes/no, if yes how long ?
  • Escrow : no/yes with who ?
  • DAO VENTURE : no/yes how much ?
  • Proposal Category : adoption as paiement, full chaine adoption, ....
  • Economical sector: Music/Smart phone APPS/ ...
  • Project roadmap: Dev X month / Test Y month / adoption usage Z mount : phase 1, phase 2 ....
  • Data : transaction per day, new users per day, regular user per day, volume per day ....
  • Geography scope: Internationnal or so ....
  • Customers: segment
  • Business afiliates: Green trees ...
  • Ask funds: Phase one X Dash for Y month ....
  • ...
This is just one example, it must be improved and adapted.

5) - Then a shemat graphically showing the use and circulation of the Dash.
From the 1st user through all stages. with various possibilities either to continue in the Dash chain or to end on an exchange.

a) - Concerning directly your project, without at first judging its relevance by itself, because it is still easier for the vast majority of people today to pay by credit card and your users will be able to pay either in Dash or in Fiat, why would they choose to pay in Dash by they own ?

b) - Will each payment in Fiat be converted directly to Dash?

c) - Dash will be the application's internal unit of account where all prices will be displayed both fiat and Dash?

d) - some of the staff will be paid in Dash? if yes how many?

e) - Do you have a program for your suppliers to agree to be paid in Dash? If so, can you detail it?

Thanks for your detailed questions- much appreciated and will be coming back later with the response- the proposal is too long to put into the pre-proposals section - so under the pre-proposal poast there is further information that I hope is helpful and answers some of your questions though not all. Look forward to talking more later on. Kind regards Dan

Dealt with and removed - sorry about that . and is your decision as to whether this is a big marketing opportunity. We've reconstructed the proposal to be more factual. The question is do these mainstream and superstar artists sell music and have followings. It is the reliance on these that creates the platform size and marketing reach.

We have converted the proposal into more of a focus on infrastructure development and uptake. It's not just about getting wallets out of people but it's how to have these people use them.

2) - It is missing, upon arrival on your proposal, how and why dash will be used.
Which is vital information for us right from the start.

We take on board your suggestion of putting help Dash will be used from the start.

3) - Your presentation is certainly very understandable by people of your trade or revolving around this industry, it has not adapted to me. The words the references the concepts and the jargon, are not accessible to the greatest number without making an effort of comprehension, or with the risk of understanding the things expressed, in erroneous ways.

We got an overhaul of the tone of voice and hopefully this is jargon free now- all the terms are more expressed in Lehmans language if there is a specialist communication needed.

4) - Personally, in 1st, I am interested in what it can bring the project to Dash, bury users and number of transactions. With a medium to long term perspective. But in numbers.
As for example this type of presentation :
Highlights
  • Dash Exclusivity: yes/no, if yes how long ? You 24 Months
  • Escrow : no/yes with who ? Yes with Dash core team
  • .DAO VENTURE : no/yes how much ? This service is not available yet from Dash, however, we have allocated $500,000 in stock for Dash and will make this available in a future contract.
  • Proposal Category : adoption as paiement, full chaine adoption, .... Infrastructure developments and marketing adoption
  • Economical sector: Music/Smart phone APPS/ ...both Music and smartphone apps
  • Project roadmap: Dev X month / Test Y month / adoption usage Z mount : phase 1, phase 2 ....
    • Please see our budgets that shows user up take in the assumptions - we do feel these are relatively conservative but probably a good way to view. I also draw your attention to the milestones and the chant journey in the proposal- we start with ourselves move onto small acts then to medium size finishing at superstar in year two. When you read the proposal in detail you'll get to see the journey that backs up the assumptions in the numbers.

  • Data : transaction per day, new users per day, regular user per day, volume per day ....
    • This is difficult to answer however through the various recording industry bodies we can calculate daily streaming and purchase from 50 small artists 30 medium size- and 10 large acts. This is where we plan to be in year you will see in the attached Google budget doc. There online media presence needs to be taken into account such as Youtube…. The daily usage of this number of combined artists is potentially in the hundreds of millions depending on touring schedules and release dates and then media programming - please see CHANT as a brand-new and potentially infectious idea- we are accessing large databases reliant on our pipeline of talent to provide the scaled reach. Fans will be signing up to CHANT for the access to their chosen artists - this spreadsheet is a conservative forecast . https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...xo8rEJ-i7NdlXci_CMReroXX0Q/edit#gid=807514336

  • Geography scope: Internationnal or so ....
    • The music industry is Global. Europe and North America will be our starting points- we do believe however that the K-pop and Japanese far east market will be strong too.

  • Customers: segment Youth and millennial though not restricted- we access the various artists fan bases. 16 to 35 year olds is a good target
  • Business afiliates: Green trees ... Yes we want to plant has many trees as possible- Have planted 13 million - we can pick up on the existing projects- please see the attachment of the artist who have participated before which are being wrapped up into CHANT . This is the Forest PDF in the proposal.
  • Ask funds: Phase one X Dash for Y month ....
    • We have dropped the amount in half that was needed from Dash - we were originally going to ask the two amounts of 500,000 dollars into proposals- we have since found $500,000 from the team and from other investors. Half the cost of developing the project is now being met by us and our other contacts- around this amount has already been spent to get us this far.

  • ...
This is just one example, it must be improved and adapted.

5) - Then a shemat graphically showing the use and circulation of the Dash.
From the 1st user through all stages. with various possibilities either to continue in the Dash chain or to end on an exchange.

We are working on a slide to show the user interface on the- will have this posted up soon .

a) - Concerning directly your project, without at first judging its relevance by itself, because it is still easier for the vast majority of people today to pay by credit card and your users will be able to pay either in Dash or in Fiat, why would they choose to pay in Dash by they own ?

This point has been taken on strongly and if you will see the Focus of the proposal has shifted and this is now an infrastructure development Focus. - all people to signup to chant automatically get wallet opened . Fans get benefits by using Dash

b) - Will each payment in Fiat be converted directly to Dash?

Yes

c) - Dash will be the application's internal unit of account where all prices will be displayed both fiat and Dash?

Yes

d) - some of the staff will be paid in Dash? if yes how many? 16 people - at full throttle- however we have an open source jamming band CHANT LIVE - many headline musicians have come along and played with us. in future we will be paying them and their expenses in Dash - and asking any musician who plays in our live show to communicate this..... This means we could be playing several hundred people -some have got quite a big following.

e) - Do you have a program for your suppliers to agree to be paid in Dash? If so, can you detail it?
Not yet this is in development.

Hi Jol thank you very much for looking at this in such detail.... Have spent the last two days researching how to integrate evolution so Chant is now more infrastructure development initiative with the marketing and communications - refined the proposal to try and take out some of the jargon - the other bit of good news is that the fully funded plan we found half the money for through our own team and investors- we are now only coming Dash Half the capital requirement. We're also allocating $500,000 worth of stock for Dash - at present of the Equity service isn't ready yet but it should be quite soon I will hold onto this for you if all works out. When you had a chance to review the pre-proposal would be great to have another conversation - Best wishes Dan

Dear Dash community- have refined the proposal taking on board more comments- we've looked at evolution and have worked on figuring out ways to get wallets to the fan bases of major artists. We've also found half our fully funded plan budget from the existing team and investors. Look forward to hearing any feedback. With kind regards Dan

What would you do if you don't get the support of the Dash network?

I just feel like you are asking for too much money. I do like the things you are offering just not at that price. Especially if you are still accepting fiat.

Also, some confirmation from those Twitter users with 10s of millions of follower would be good.

You can also contact the Dash Core team regarding escrow if you don't like greencandle.
Singleton- we have refined the proposal and found half the budget in our own team. If you get a chance to review it would be grateful - kind regards Dan

I'm fearful that it's a pie in the sky and there isn't much traction already.

What can be done to show buy in from both artists and listeners, in order to make MNO appreciate its potential?

Hi Mr. WilliamChui - artists have already written music for the App - and played with our testing band. Chant Live - co-founder Marting Glover ( Youth ) produce the last Pink Floyd album, U2, The Verve etc- Is the go-to produce for up-and-coming artists too- with a deep network. I founded the carbon-neutral movement which was initiated by musicians. We have gone back to this network now to get them involved in the next phase- Chant. Record Companies and Publishers also see this as an extra route to market. The testing band is the Proof concert with an audience. It was set up to boost our pipeline and have credible artists come and play with us which has been delivered. In the narrative on the Chant Live links above goes into some detail Audiences Love becoming a participant in the music rather than a passive recipient. We've had 28 gigs where we loop they audiences voices live into shows turning them into an instrument. The buy-in from artists in this concept has been great too - they see it as an underground art movement which is the most attractive way to generate talent interest rather than kicking off with one major star which would put other artists off. Our objective has been to get mass acceptance in the artist community. Much of this work is already done. We have a strong enough pipeline to launch from the small and credible artists- moving to medium sise too large Acts.
