Huge Innovation Potential -> Using Masternodes as Cloudservice!

Hello,

maybe some of you know Datacoin? Datacoin was developed late 2013 and had one really big innovation that the Datacoin dev got alot credit for.

Datacoin is able to use the blockchain as a means of data storage. That means by using datacoins everyone can buy some KBs on the blockchain to store any file he wants, of course encrypted. Thats some very helpful service as it provides a kind of a decentralized cloud that can't get censored!

Nevertheless Datacoin faces one issue. Blockchain-Bloat. As the files are stored into the blockchain the blockchain gets obv big.

And thats where Masternodes come into play. Masternodes are perfect for providing big amounts of storage and keeping those files!

IMO that's definitly a idea to consider as a feature. Masternodes are obv capable of providing alot of services and that could be one very useful one!

Opinions?

what are you suggesting? adding datacoin daemons to the masternodes? or adding datacoin protocol to darkcoin?

Without being too much into this kind of technology, I feel that MaidSafe as well as Ethereum are going to take care of this issue in a much more attractive and rewarding way, unless I am not seeing something about the benefit of integrating such a service the way you mentioned :) How exactly would you reward each MasterNode? You would obviously need to prefer those that give you a lot of space compared to the ones that give little and it just screams for a lot of trouble to integrate such a feature when the coin and system itself was not designed for it in the first place.

I appreciate the intended value of such a service, but that isn't our mission. Our mission is to create the world's best anonymous digital currency. We're in the payments business, not the data storage solution business. And to be quite frank, what datacoin is attempting to do is going to be extremely difficult to achieve technically. It also doesn't make any sense to me that a digital currency, payment network, and data storage service belong together under one roof. There are no synergies between the data storage and payments components... in fact, there are huge "anti-synergies" in the form of a bloated blockchain that you point out. Could some form of "masternodes" solve that issue for them? Perhaps, but let them figure that out.

Bottom line is that if datacoin wanted to provide the world's best peer-to-peer data storage, go do that and try to do it really well. Combining that service with a currency compromises the quality of BOTH solutions and is a terrible terrible terrible idea IMO. It's hard enough to do one thing better than all other solutions out there. Doing two things better is almost impossible.
