Budget Proposal for May-July 2017

Hi!

My name is Slava and I represent a group of cryptocurrency enthusiasts from Kiev, Ukraine

I remember as it all started from a pure interest on how digital currency works about two years ago. And, I have to say it was quite tricky at first, because there were almost no resources, that could explain crypto with “normal human language” without loosing crucial points. What’s more, most of the info was in English with a bunch of technological stuff, which is difficult to understand, even though I am a fluent speaker.

That’s why we decided to focus on promoting cryptocurrency and a DASH itself in a way that brought us to it – through persistent explanation. And the best way to attract people is to make it lively: using real life examples, simplifying the words and focusing on the main concept of a blockchain. We want to show people that cryptocurrency is a very humane thing. No more dull and boring stuff about crypto - only hardcore!))
Our content must be very useful for all those who are new to crypto or are looking for simple explanation (especially for Western Europe and Russian- speakers all over the world. )

Why our team is good for this purpose?

Most of our teammates are programmers or IT- specialists, who were historically the first to appreciate a cryptocurrency technology. However, I’m a student of finance so I do a lot of research on blockchain technology. Well it’s not surprising, as crypto is going to wipe out banks, which should be my main working place (just kidding). But as I took more interest in crypto, I noticed that there are not so many people, who can adequately explain it to public.

So, as my main professional skill is delivering ideas to people (I’ve been working as a journalist in information agency and nation-wide newspapers), why shouldn’t I try to benefit the cryptocurrency world! Besides, it gets me going every time I see people realizing this technology for the first time))

The proposal is for 3 months, so it would be possible to adjust the execution and prices on short- term basis. We are looking for a long-term involvement so our team could become Ukrainian DASH coordinators! If everything goes fine – we would introduce proposals for more periods.

What we have already done:

1. Launched a daily news source on cryptocurrencies – http://fork.land/ (November 2016)

2. Launched a Ukrainian DASH community website – http://dash.com.ua/ (January 2017).

Site contains only unique and original texts, not a copy-paste. BUT, designer needs more time so he finishes the design and the main page content.

3. Launched an exchange – https://fork.sale/ (since March 2017)

4. Held a conference on cryptocurrency in Zhytomyr on April 8-th

5. First episode of video blog on cryptocurrency - just to make it clear what we are going to produce, what would be the content and just so you know me:)

6. Second episode of video blog

7. Third episode of video blog

8. Second Conference in Vinnitsa on June 17-th

9. Third conference is going to be on July 22-nd in Kherson

What we are currently doing:

- Holding a lecture on cryptocurrency in top-notch Ukrainian university in May (already arranged and paid, waiting for the room to be provided). It will be filmed and posted.

- Making graphics about DASH structure and cryptocurrency mechanism, (target audience – newbies; main focus – simplicity)

THIS IS NOT INCLUDED INTO THE PROPOSAL, so you could appreciate our contribution.
Sort of free trial!))

We’ve cooperated with Dmitriy Baimuratov (@dmitriybtc) to enrich the cryptocurrency field with high- quality conferences.

As we now cooperate, part of my initial expenses on conferences goes to his budget:
Which means that this proposal is now $830 less than it used to be.

What the budget proposal includes PER MONTH

- Montly conferences in biggest Ukrainian cities
  • 30-60 people
  • 4 hours
  • 4 or 5 speakers

- Promotion of DASH in social networks (SMM)

  • DASH.com.ua Facebook page official advertising - $300
  • DASH.com.ua Youtube channel promotion - $300 (140+ clicks a day)
- Regular news about cryptocurrencies and DASH on both websites (DASH.com.ua & Fork.land) – included into journalist`s salary

- Two Vlogs per month:
  • video tutorials on cryptocurrency in general (how it works, why it`s cool and should be used) – included into journalist`s salary
  • video blogs about DASH – included into journalist`s salary
- Journalist- copywriter’s salary – texts for conferences, vlogs, news, video filming and editing – $1000/month.

Why we’ve included the salary. This money will guarantee regular news on both websites, video blogs production and conferences content on high professional level.

TOTAL: $1600 or 18+ 5= 23 DASH/ month. (Submission fee of 5 DASH included)

VERIFICATION:

My identity can be proved by @dmitriybtc, who we recently invited to our team.

Every member of DASH community can check the work on our websites (everyday news and vlogs), social networks (events) or by contacting us directly through Skype or Facebook. Anyone could check the expenses on advertising on facebook or youtube. We would be happy to answer all of your questions and suggestions.

UPDATE:

We have decided to limit the amount of vlogs to 2 per month: one dedicated to DASH and one – to cryptocurrency in general.

WHY? Because we want to focus on something completely new: we are implementing the cryptocurrency in the brick-and-mortar economy. More on that proposal here

What would be your target audience and value proposition to them? Defaulting to "no" vote, sorry.

As mentioned - we are going to introduce more people to crypto and DASH itself, so target audience are newbies.
Why NO?

It won't be easy to collect 80 active participants monthly unless you'll propose something unique or will just bribe them with free beer.

If it's the first, please, share your value proposition (why people would bother to visit your event).

If it's the second, then partying is not what I'll vote for.

Some background: my team launched KyivPy and, later, UA.PyCon. Bringing people to an even is not that easy, as it seems from the first glance. Making them come the 2nd time is even harder. And I'm talking about annual event, while you're planing to do it monthly. Partying fatigue will build up pretty quickly.

Also, as I've menioned in other thread, join your forces, don't spread efforts too wide.

.

First of all: 50-80 participants does mean that at least 50 will come. Probably, 65 could come. And in the best case - we would attract 80. Believe me, we do our best to get even more than that.

I see your point, but you are talking about very specific events for developers and, to be honest, I don't know much people attending programing conferences, so your audience is already shallow. By the way some of your's are paid, and it makes them even less attractive to people.

On the other hand, our events would be focused on a very common thing - money. We want people to know that world is changing rapidly and next shift in our conception about money is just in three steps. Who wouldn't be interested?))

Furthermore, we are asking for budgeting to make events first of all free. Otherwise, widespread usage of crypto would take too long - people just don't know about it, because most of the conferences are expensive to come to.

P.S. There was a biker-musician as a speaker on your last event in Dnepr. Was he there not for party?)))

Other cryptocurrencies don't have any budgeting or so ever. Why is this a problem? Because it's hard to make a good event free to come. And impossible to make such an event for free. This is why we don't see any greater adoption of cryptocurrency nowadays, and won't see in the near future.

But DASH's budget has almost $700 000 and burns most of it. Just think for minute about endless possibilities that network has. We can even do charity, guys!

A lot of proposals are rejected. And that's wise - no one should spend money on a thin air, especially considering the limited resources. But $2000 doesn't take even 1% of total budget, while we offer the most crucial thing for crypto today - a publicity.

No, that's because of the limited utility right now.

Those, who value their time. That are the people that influence most.

Once again, what's the value propositioin?

What function of money are you going to present?

Transaction value / a medium of exchange? Ukrainian merchants can't legally accept DASH.

Measurement of value? No way, commonly it's measured in USD here.

Store of wealth? Hardly even just as a speculative value, because you'll be laughed out of the room as you'll fail to describe how to transfer even $100k worth from ukrainian bank into DASH masternode.

Sorry, your argument of "there are free money!" just made it less likely for me to support your proposal.

I'm hesitant to submit an independet proposal for continued development and support of Electrum and other SPV wallets, and it's much more important (just my opinion, of course), since common users hardly would download multigigabyte blockchain to run Dash Core.

So you mean, that we need just sit and and wait, until people could appreciate what crypto is? That's not going to happen on it's own.

No one would download Electrum, since common users would hardly even KNOW about the existence of DASH.

Besides, are there any problems with electrum? Don't we have enough people working on the software? I don't think so.

But there definitely is a problem with public acceptance of cryptocurrency itself. That's what we want to work on.

Definitely not a function of fiat money, but rather a completely new generation of money, that is instant, cross-boarder and low- cost. Think outside the box;)

We work a lot with businesses and CEO's, so that's our target audience. There is an enormous demand on crypto among them, they want to use and implement this technology. Hence, there is no one explaining and working with them.

Ok, business owners and CEO's.

What's the value proposition? Another option for trans-border payments?

Value - they all seek for new opportunities, new business models, new ideas. You're right, they value their time and they want to know about crypto. Because they all seek how to profit. That's why they WILL come.
