Hi,

Long time holder 20K +, non crypto-geek, ex-hacker. Constantly thinking about how to get the show on the road with this fine coin [for obvious reasons]. While a technical wonder it needs to be melded into everyday use for the initiated and not so initiated. Struggling with a couple ideas:

1. An envelope, a wrapper. A delivery system. The coin the network the nodes, or something. Where you wrap a bitcoin in a darkcoin as an envelope or wrapper, fire it off with two address, the address of the node and the ultimate address, when the wrapped bitcoin in the dark coin hits the dark coin node, it is ejected and sent on its merry way to the ultimate address. Like a post office, mail forwarding. Bit coin users don't want the source of their spent coin to be traceable, wrap it in darkcoins network to a certain point, release it and it arrives as a bitcoin at the intended destination. All traces if necessary only go back to the ejecting node.

2. Pornography - it has been mentioned repeatedly and examine continuously but nothing seems to ever come to fruition. My belief is that the CC processors are in cahoots with the monster pron sites, and in fact may even hold a share, because again it is my belief it is not the nominal sum of a monthly subscription it is the holding onto or control of recurring payments that the main sites push like crazy that you subscribe to. How or what they diddle with that, be it, delayed cancellations, which seems to be the main thing i.e. OMG I cancelled and there are numerous charges on my account. Oldest trick in the book. Free money to play the markets, and then after a month or two of the customer fighting for a correction the money is returned. 100,000 x 50 overcharge \ unresponsive support \ error cancellation etc. held for 30 + days, easy money for the money markets for the processor to play with.

As such I don't think the big porn players are interested in one time once per month payments via crypto currency for this reason.

Unless one can create a repository or some kind of revolving line of credit or recurring payment scheme that they are comfortable with.

An escrow of sorts. A node that they can draw funds from and that if you execute a command [email other] your funds are returned to you. Your darkcoins.

Perhaps it is not a big deal to the majority to sign up for porn with credit cards, chequing accounts, telephone calling charge schemes etc.

I am fairly certain a whole lot more people would be consumers if it was totally anonymous and a mere click of a mouse away. Not make phone calls, not submit credit cards, not write cheques and send it in. Who does that?

So utilizing darkcoin, someone subscribes to some funky pron site they have always been interested in. select monthly quarterly, annually subscription. The press send and their darkcoins are sent and held at a node as in escrow or the like. Porn site operator is satisfied that funds are there for the subscribed period and can be debited accordingly. Voyeur is satisfied because if she decides to cancel all she need do is send a trigger and the coins are returned.

I maintain the recurring billing is the biggest scheme for the pron site operators, if some how a mechanism can be assured to them to accept bitcoin, they would do it.

Lofty ideas I know, but i am numb thinking it all through.

Any input welcome. I am pretty sure something in this vein or the next once closted to it could be done

I agree that porn sites don't have much incentive too move from CC, but what about cam sites and individuals? Specially since many american workers in the adult industry are getting their accounts closed.

They probably operate in a similar way (recurring payments difficult to cancel), but if they are indeed being kicked off from backs then there is an opportunity there. I read somewhere recently that there were around 10 million people using cryptos. It is not a big market, but dominating it can be enough for small players to thrive.

I imagine this to be possible as soon as there exists a liquid decentralised crypto exchange. Look at the counterparty protocol: https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterpartyd
An exchange that would (ab)use their protocol and add a wrapper parameter to the send command could use the existing liquidity in the market to wrap the btc (exchange to drk, and reexchange to btc) and anonymise it. The wrapper DRK come from anonymised funds already in the market that fulfill their wrapping function for a fee while waiting for their limits to get filled. The owner of these DRK previously agreed to have their orders serve as wrappers.

Surely the subscription based porn consumption model is here to stay for some time because it is in the interest of the porn industry for the reasons you mentioned. But who is to say that porn production and consumption could not evolve into different models? More like pay per view, pay as you go? InstantX could be a catalyst of a more interactive model where either pre-produced content is served on micro-payed user input or live interactions are offered per interaction for individual, separate fees. The reason why this has never been done is that the billing was not ready.

Parallel to the offline world: there are indeed brothels which offer subscription based membership and services. But afaik this is the exception rather than rule in prostitution. Once an online cash has established itself. Why should payment models be so much different in the web?
