Official Statement On Rebranding To Dash

@boblq

This very good. I think it is the best thing, we can do for Digital Cash - sharing information is extremely important.

Companies often have internal code names for projects and programmers, being surprisingly funny folks, often give their projects names that cause the marketing and sales people to shudder. This is what happened when Darkcoin began to mature. The name DASH, short for Digital Cash is much better suited...

Nicely worded

I like the direction there. Here is another modified logo based on the same design. What do you think? DASH.jpg

Guys, please don't use non-approved logos on events about darkcoin. The logo will be decided soon, and we will be able to use that everywhere. No reason to cause further confusion

If you gonna do that

Just change the A to @ and you have D @ SH

get it :-D lol

IMHO the main problem of the future logo (and I hope designers will cope with it) - not to do it "cool", but write clearly, simply and unequivocally DASH, but to leave a hint of CASH.

OF course I agree that we should not to use any non official logo on actual info about darkcoin/Dash, However here I believe it is very acceptable to throw around ideas. Who knows, the official logo may stem from ideas knocked around on a forum.

All mobile projects that we know of are from independent devs.
Certainly in the horizon, its obviously one of the functions Masternodes will provide as full node - light wallets.

We have an android dev actively trying to figure out how to implement IX and DS.

No iOS wallet that I know of.
The recent Ubuntu Phone (Aquaris 4.5) should in theory run both the QT and the daemon, trying to grab my hands on one to test...

tbh, I'm not the most qualified to answer, but it seems some basic functionalities are still being prep'ed. We only just recently forked from bitcoin 0.9.3, we used to be a litecoin fork. So I *think* it should be easier, but core team is focusing on what they do best... core dev. So no official side project for now.

.

So, if I understand you correctly, a proper mobile wallet would more or less need new functionality on the Masternodes? Evan mentioned something similar in the webcast. Is there any information on how this is supposed to work? I would imagine some sort of RPC protocol, ideally in JSON. Then, someone could basically build a mobile client with PhoneGap or something similar and have it run on a lot or mobile platforms at once. But this would also mean that every mobile client could cause a lot of work on the masternode. Not necessarily DDOS, but it would at least be too much for Rasperry Pi mns I suppose.

In a nutshell

a) I'm not the best person to answer
b) we're a bitcoin 0.9.3 fork, so anything possible/coded for this version should be easily ported to DRK.

So I *think* it's only a matter of someone who knows what he/she's doing, do it !

From there on, yes, any implementation that is specific to Dark/Dash, has to be coded from scratch.
Stuff like, for instance, Electrum, is easily ported to DRK/DASH

It seems most people are pretty keen on the change to "Dash". If it can't be used, how about "Dhash" (pronounced "dash")?

I have a substantial meetup set in concrete on March 28. I am going with DASH even if it muddies the water a little because the logo I use is not yet official. Take a look and if anyone is truly upset I will consider alternatives. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ztk0jagePkzvi6RLQW9Flf0bdS50gVZsN1QPFbUK4Ok/edit?usp=sharing

The 99th member just joined the meetup. We should bump over the 100 mark today or tomorrow. I suspect maybe 20 people will turn out for the actual meeting.

That spinning logo is the best thing since sliced bread - sliced bread having been invented the previous winter*
Seriously - kudos to the original designers of both the logo and the animation. Another notch to this communities belt.
