iPhone DashWallet Release

depends on your settings I guess
I do not use iCloud (centralised boobi trap)!
all you do is use his iTunes log in to get the App on your phone , as you are not doing any backups with his account that should be all ok !
without the seeds (wallet) you can not do ANYTHING ( you can not , or barely, erase the app)

Not really. I mentioned this in a post before. An Apple, app developer can add up to 100 devices for their $99/year fee. Any more than 100, then there is a cost, but I've never come close to getting anywhere near it. Each apple device has a unique identifier. The app developer adds that id to their "account" (this id only is used in signing). The dev then picks which "features" the app will use (iCloud is not required so no need to check that option... nor the 'in app purchases' nor the game center, etc.)

Having an iPhone Dash wallet is really cool. But, I feel like I have a laserdisc player and no one to play with. :-(

It did get a little "expensive" when it became too easy to use the ShapeShift iPhone to app, then copy/paste Breadwallet (bitcoin) to my Dashwallet (Dash) and see the coins show up.

Tungfa's instructions are pretty clear. (if you've done something like it before)

But, before you can put the iPhone Dashwallet on an actual iPhone, you will need:
1) iPhone or iPad
2) recent mac
3) download xcode (free) - but is several gb
4) pay $99/year for Developer program (if you just want to run the Dashwallet on the iPhone simulator, you don't need this piece)
5) an hour or two to walk thru the instructions (you have to do other steps like key signing steps too, like create a CSR...)

It really is not for the faint of heart. It's not difficult... just a little time consuming.

I could be wrong, but that (patronscan) is probably just a web-based app with an icon; it is probably not a native application.

Welcome to their walled garden (Apple). If you play nicely and follow their rules you get some really nice benefits.

doesn't look like a web based app. It looks like a full on app. Install it and have a look. Would be an easy solution to figure it out

Ok. I am going down this rabbit hole...

http://www.patronscan.com/app/
leads to
https://secure.servalldatasystems.com/hotscan/install/scanner.plist
leads to
https://secure.servalldatasystems.com/hotscan/scanner/22001/scanner.ipa
which can be unzipped
and now it shows the assets...

Ok. I am proven wrong... but I am left scratching my head here... How. Does. It. Work. ?!?!

I could be wrong again. (man, I am glad I am not at a casino tonight!)

It used to require the annual dev program to put an app on a device. Since they merged the mac, safari and ios on to one program, perhaps they removed that piece, too.

i did not have to do that
i just used my iTunes log in and done

"Apple has changed its policy regarding permissions required to build and run apps on devices. Until now, Apple required users to pay $99/year to become a member of Apple’s Developer Program in order to run code on physical iPhone and iPads. As part of the new Developer Program, this is no longer required. Apps can be tested on devices, no purchase necessary."

Cool!

Even better... (next paragraph)

"However, this technically means that developers will be able to release apps outside of the App Store as long as they are open-sourced. Interested users could then open the code in Xcode, compile and run it on their own devices — avoiding the App Store completely."

Woah! My mind is blown.

good !
happy that guide is working, took me (tech dunny) ages to write that thing and get it out

I think this means that we can morph those instructions on how to create an .ipa so we don't have to go thru the appstore to distribute. We could "build" it, md5sum it, then put it on dash.org as a "download". Maybe... I don't want to be wrong three times in a row tonight...

I think something is wrong with the exchange rate display for the iOS app; it seems to be stuck around $2.90. I'm not sure if the source (bitpay) isn't updating or what, but it gave me a quick shock today when I thought the price must have quickly dropped. ;)

iPhone is using cryptsy , thats why it is stuck
he will update code to Polotx again

I was able to compile and run on iPhone 4 / iOS 7.1.2 without any issues (using Xcode 7.1.1)
That's excellent! Could you get this build on some popular alternative app repositories such as Cydia or AppCake? I should be able to find some time to assist if that would be helpful. Thanks!

hey man
tx for the offer , thing is we are rebarnding foundation and then want to try iTunes Store again , before that we do not want to try any other stores as they are not officially acknowledged by iTunes and we do not want to taint our 2nd try !
if the next iTunes application does not work out (again) we are happy to come back to this idea

How soon can we make the 2nd attempt? About how long does it take for them to process the request? Right now it seems there are no simple installation options for anyone (even if they're jailbroken), so that definitely isn't a good thing. Even with it in the official app store a lot of people using a privacy centric currency don't want Apple to know what apps they're installing on their device.

we are well aware of this issue !
it was a big disappointment when they refused us !

the foundation is renaming / rebranding , that had to go through official government channels and it takes time , I have no eta

iTunes can do whatever they want , accept other crypto but not us is up to them in the end , they "rule the world" when it comes to the App Store and do not even have to give us a reason to take is or not

we are 'working' in it
sorry this is all I can say as these things obviously take time

I don't mean to seem impatient, but it has been nearly 3 months since this thread was created. My only intention here is to try and get this app available to more people (hence my interest in builds that run on older versions of iOS). Do we have any reason to believe they would reject the app based on it being available elsewhere?

I can understand not wanting it to be in repositories along with pirated software (not that we can really stop someone from doing this), but I don't see why it should be a problem for someone to create a Cydia repository specifically for this app. UdjinM6 or QuantumExplorer do you have any thoughts on how the security could/should be handled in this instance? I noticed a security warning for jailbroken users, so I would like to see a safe and simple option for people that truly value their privacy.

naruby Can you help shed some light on this?
