hey guys im new to cryptocurrency and im not even sure if this is the right place to ask but im watching videos and reading articles about crypto for 2 weeks now first because i wanted to learn more about bitcoin and now im pretty much on the dash hypetrain but why is it so damn hard to buy dash? is there a way to buy dash with paypal? maybe some fellow german can help me :-/
also wall of coins does not work in germany right?(would be a great option too)

Right now I would say it is easier to fiat -> bitcoin -> dash than fiat -> dash. Because there are more services built up around bitcoin than dash (at this time) I recommend new users get familiar with and purchase bitcoin before getting involved in an alt-coin like dash. This may be sacrilege to say in dash forum, but honestly, right now, dash isn't ready of new/naive users. That will change with Evolution, but that is many months away.

yeah thought about that but i was thinking when i do it like that fiat -> bitcoin _> dash i have to pay fees 2 times right? :-/

would you recommend coinbase to buy bitcoin first? or what are the best sites to buy bitcoin there are so many..

i have to pay fees 2 times right?

Yes, you may want to shop around to determine the cheapest/best/simplest path. Exchange fees tend to be around 0.5%. I got my first Dash using Shapeshift.io, which is highly recommended and wonderfully easy to use. Exodus.io is a multi-currency wallet that is recommended and is integrated with Shapeshift, but I haven't used it yet.

recommend coinbase to buy bitcoin first
Personally, I do recommend Coinbase to new bitcoin users in the U.S. I find Coinbase easy to use as an exchange, and I like their mobile wallet. The caveat with Coinbase, however, is that they are very compliant with U.S. laws and regulations (that can be good or bad, depending on circumstances). Consider all business you do using Coinbase to be transparent to the U.S. government (i.e. the IRS). You're in Germany, so I don't know what the implications are there. You might want to check out Bitstamp.

@grumahar @jimbursch if you want to buy dash, as a starting point i would always look at the official documentation in the Dash wiki as their are a lot of scammers out there. https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/display/DOC/How+to+buy

Secondly its not necessary to go through exchanges to purchase bitcoin and then convert it into dash if you are willing to pay a little premium on top, there are sites such as:

https://changelly.com
https://anycoindirect.eu/en

https://dashous.com

and a few others.. just check the wiki.

I guess you want Euro -> DASH, and maybe somewhere later in the future DASH -> Euro.

The most convenient way I know of is to create an account over at https://www.kraken.com/ , and do the necessary verification steps.

With Kraken you can do Euro -> Bitcoin -> DASH (and of course the other way around). They don't yet offer DASH as currency, so you'd have to transfer your Bitcoins to some of the many exchanges which trade DASH for Bitcoin.

The interesting thing is that you can do Euro -> Bitcoin and Bitcoin -> Euro via SEPA transfer (they use a German bank for that), so you'd pay only 0.09 Eurobucks per transfer!

You'd still pay the Bitcoin <-> Dash transaction fees, though, there's unfortunately still no way around that.
