I am glad that you are responding, even to this kind of negative comment of mine. Thanks! We are waiting for the final release
I have always responded on here, in email, on the phone, and on Discord and Twitter. You can always just ask a question without implying something that's completely false. The open beta is available and you can certainly go use it, like many others have. I'm personally using it daily as are other community members.

The DashDirect open beta has a critical update, which allows users to order physical cards!

For those who do not use the app stores, here is an APK: https://api.codemagic.io/artifacts/...p-dashdirect_production-release-universal.apk

Here is a quick video of our first (of many) test transactions: https://ionia.docsend.com/view/yupkjcy2vsqrfe7q

Also, a few weeks ago, we launched the integration with Apple Pay and Samsung Pay (Google Pay coming soon). You will need to add your card manually to the wallets, until we release the auto-provision feature (in development).

Here is a quick video of a community member using their Apple Watch to pay from their DashDirect Debit Card: https://ionia.docsend.com/view/7xx9ebacdh5bvjvh

We are working towards a full public launch on the app stores. The target is to release by the end of next week, however, we are working closely with other community members to get PR coverage and will coordinate with them to ensure the best coverage possible for the full launch!

I've downloaded from iOS app store without issues for both Dash Wallet and DashDirect apps. However, I'm still not able to get DashDirect Debit Card as it seems to not allow for me to register. Whenever I go to dashdirect.org on my iphone (either in Safari or Chrome) it just shows a blue tint over the page which feels like it's not allowing for me to choose anything. On the app I do see pre paid gift cards to fill in for certain shops and brands. But I'm trying to get the beta version of Debit Card to register. Any ideas for how to do this? Thank you!

I am not sure why you can't access the website on your mobile device. It is mobile friendly and responsive (bootstrap). You will not have access to the DashDirect Prepaid card through the app store download, until that feature is publicly available through that version of the app. You can sign up for the beta here:

This feature will be launching publicly next week as well, so you can also wait until that is available through the app store.

Thanks for the prompt response. Sounds good. I’ll take a dive into this and will report back.

Boom. That worked. Thank you again!

Got my virtual card set up. Now I’m trying to understand how I can send over my DASH assets from Dash Wallet to DashDirect in order to prefund the virtual MasterCard.

Any hints would be appreciated!

I'm glad that worked.

Happy to help.

Within DashDirect, on the Mastercard page, there is a blue "Add Funds" button at the bottom. Just press Add Funds and follow the prompts.

Excellent. There it goes. I felt funny for not realizing upon pressing 'add fund' it would then prompt itself to open Dash Wallet app and thus proceed the rest from there.

Very well done. Looking forward to the public release of this and I'm also curious if it would be possible to add this under 'Apple Pay' on iPhones/iWatches eventually?

Done! Thanks again for your prompt responses. Makes me feel better by joining this community.

I've been itching to jump on this bandwagon for quite some time and couldn't have joined at a better time.

Any updates on this? I’m still using the TestFlight version of DashDirect even tho it’s expired but the app still works. Is this to be expected? Because I noticed the App Store version has not been updated for the past two months. So I checked and noticed there isn’t a MasterCard option in there yet. So back to the TestFlight for the time being. Thanks!

I'll let Marshall reply fully to your inquiry, but the Mastecard program was suspended by DashDirect's banking partner.

To our valued Dash community members:

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the current outage of our debit card payment services. I truly apologize for this unwelcomed event. Ionia was notified on June 10th that our bank partner suspended the program. Because of this service interruption the DashDirect Beta Prepaid Card Program is temporarily on hold.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and goodwill as we do everything it takes to resolve this delay as quickly as possible.

Although we will always take responsibility for the high standard of operation our customers expect and deserve, we also realize when breaking new ground there will be pushback by those whose model we’re disrupting.

I’d like to give extra context around the Ionia card program and the events of this week:

Background:

  • The DashDirect Beta Prepaid Card Program was available through Ionia’s fully-approved and fully-compliant card program, approved by Ionia’s then-current issuing bank partner.

A little insight to the events that led up to today:
  • On Tuesday June 7th, 2022, Ionia launched a new card program with Edge Wallet, integrating the popular Ionia card program and functionality into the existing Edge Wallet app
  • With success comes buzz, excitement, and attention. While Ionia and Edge followed all guidelines, several media outlets unfortunately released statements with unapproved language, upsetting the card network and certain government regulators, in spite of the program's compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • The language used in the articles was upsetting to the card network, from a reputational perspective. Unhappy, the card network began placing pressure on the issuing bank, claiming the language used in the news did not comply with the program requirements, and thus we were not in compliance and were not authorized to continue. It’s important to note that we did not publish anything at all, and Edge provided only compliant materials, approved by our card issuer.
  • Ultimately, our issuing bank succumbed to the card network’s pressure and deemed the program out of compliance, due to the unapproved marketing messaging from several publications.
You might be asking, “but why?”
  • The Ionia Card Program is the first of its kind, providing private, instant, on-chain transactions, allowing users to spend their cryptocurrencies as easily as USD at millions of merchants in the US while maintaining a self-custodial, permissionless, and private environment.
  • FInancial institutions are timidly participating in card programs that involve cryptocurrency, though they have not embraced the values imbued by them. New is scary, even more so to legacy financial institutions. Reputational risk is a significant portion of the ongoing tension between legacy financial institutions and cutting-edge fintech solutions for cryptocurrency communities.
  • In hindsight, we realize we should never have allowed any PR to go out, even though the content had approval from the card issuer. Since the publishers have license to change what they say and how it is said, Edge did not have the ability to control the messaging appropriately to protect the program. I deeply apologize for having not prevented this from happening.
So what’s next for the program?
  • The Ionia Card Program, and subsequently the DashDirect Beta Prepaid Program, is on hold.
  • The card issuing partner has terminated its relationship with Ionia.
  • All of the technology used to create and run this program belongs to Ionia and is largely unaffected by which card issuer we use.
  • The issuing bank that originally partnered with Ionia is one of many. We are actively creating relationships with new potential partners who share in our steadfast mission to provide financial freedom to the world and hold true with us when resistance arises. Our team is actively having these discussions both at the Consensus event in Austin, TX, and via email, and phone with non-attending potential partners. We are finding lots of interest, but we will work very carefully to identify long-term alignment.
What’s next for the DashDirect community?
  • Your funds are not at risk.
  • Two options: refund or hold tight for the re-launch.
  • Full refunds will be made for any funds currently frozen on a DashDirect Mastercard. Please refer to the refund section below for additional information on how to receive your refund.
This is just the beginning for Ionia, for DashDirect, and for every individual or organization searching for financial freedom.

While I write this today with sadness, contrition, and disappointment, I have a renewed determination to bring financial freedom to the world. Moments like this determine whether the oppressors will succeed in stripping us of our basic human rights. Together, we can fight for what we know to be the right side of this battle. May others look back at what we will accomplish and be grateful for the shared resolve, innovation, and principles that our community demonstrates over the coming months to restore our rights of privacy, ownership, and freedom.

- Marshall Greenwald

We thank you for your continued trust in DashDirect. We are here to help answer any questions you may have.

- Your allies at DashDirect

If you would like a refund for the prepaid funds currently associated with your account, please submit an email with the subject line “Refund Request” to [email protected] from your registered email address. Include your refund wallet address. If you do not send the email from your registered email address, we will not be able to verify that the request is authentic without an additional verification step. A full refund will be issued to your wallet address.

Would it be also be coming to countries like India if yes by when can we expect..?
We appreciate the desire the community has shown to use DashDirect outside the US. We have not launched outside the US yet, but we would like to. It will take funds, time, development, contracting with merchants, legal review, translation services, currency support, and more. We have made inroads on some of these items, but it is not likely that we will launch in other areas without having significant, immediate opportunities in those regions. We are exploring such an opportunity in India and should it come to fruition, it may expedite our expansion into that area.

I thought I'd provide an update here, which I just posted in a reply on DashCentral. This is in reference to the DashDirect open-loop card program (fka DashDirect Mastercard). We are finalizing a few agreements with different providers. The goal is to have multiple programs in place, under the hood, with a simple UX/UI on top of it. This will give us redundancy along with more certainty. We have actually been in discussions with the card networks themselves as well, which is a longer process, but allows us to make sure the card network is aligned with us and understands what we are doing before we re-launch with different card issuers. The card networks we are talking to are very interested in working with us on the program. We are enhancing some of the program features as well, which will afford potentially a lot more functionality for the Dash community. I'm 90% certain, personally, that we will relaunch the program in a way that is bigger, better, and stronger. The goal is to do so within 3 months, with an outside possibility it will take longer. The technology has already been built on our end. We have the full card issuance, balance management, asset management, authorization and settlement platform, and the controllers for compliance in place. We are investing our time into developing the relationships we need to ensure long-term program viability and that comes in large part through discovering alignment, disclosing details, allowing the issuer to discuss internally, answering follow on questions, and continuing to iterate on that process until all parties are comfortable with the alignment.

No, we are talking with all 4 major card networks. There is interest from all of the card networks. We will be selecting issuers, which will determine the card networks available for the program.

Discover on that list?
