Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi Guys,

This is our main update thread, we’ll be posting here regularly so do check back for the latest information.

The first topic is to gathering opinions from the community on what content you think should be included in the documentary. Here are the questions to be answered, all feedback is welcome!

1)Who do you think is deserving of an interview and what questions do you think are important to ask them?
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7j6ha9/dash_documentary_question_1/

2)Which of parts of Dash & Cryptocurrency history are essential to cover?
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7j6hf9/dash_documentary_question_2/

3)Which proposals do you think stand out the most and should be included in the documentary?
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7j6hjj/dash_documentary_question_3/

4)What relevant topics do you think are important to discuss when introducing someone to the world of Dash and Cryptocurrencies?
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7j6hoc/dash_documentary_question_4/

We have made individual threads for each question on Reddit, we decided it’s too much content for the Dash forum and we don’t want to be spamming. So if you’d like to discuss a question individually you can find the threads below the questions.

But feel free to post your comments here, or contact us personally either through Discord, Telegram @DashDocumentary or Email - [email protected]

Thanks guys

I think the DAO is the most fascinating part of DASH and I think that in the future collegiate theses will be written on the DAO and states and nations will implement DAO style governance.

Dash is the first working example of this. It is literally history in the making. Who cares about the price of the coin, explosive growth, fast transactions speeds and fees. Yes these things are important. But the DAO is mindblowing.

Hi Guys,

This is our first update,

We have been busy setting the foundations and getting everything in place to further the project after Christmas. We are currently interviewing for a Marketing, Web developer and an SEO and Social Media specialist for the new office we will be moving into this January. We have also consulted with in finance and cryptocurrency experts to help us establish the best way to spend the money and assure we progress in the right areas.

We have converted the Dash into GBP based on the conversion and sales price of Bitcoin. We converted the 157 Dash to about £66,200 and we intend to take out the next payment at the beginning of the month more efficiently to maximise potential investment.

Here is the December Budget Plan Breakdown.

£5,900 office budget - We are hiring more staff than we originally planned, this is because the rise in the value of Dash has allowed us to bring more people on. We have to get a bigger office to accommodate them, which is located in a well-connected area of Bristol. The rent is £1,800 per month, with a 2-month deposit upfront, plus agency fees of £500. The Room is in a converted tax office which we think will add an interesting intro to the dialog, making a documentary about the future of money in an office that use to house an institute of old money, we like it anyway.

£11,000 Staff Budget – Our costs are £3,000 per month, for the three key members. We have also brought on a temporary SEO expert for consultancy for our website, a Cryptocurrency expert who is helping us make sure we can maximise conversions and also keep the money safe.

An accountant is absolutely necessary for dealing with this amount of money, especially once it is converted into Fiat, and we have hired one this month to start keeping our books.

£7,000-£10,000 – The development and maintenance of the documentary website, an article website for current news and a comprehensive blog to accommodate all forms of updates on the documentary. This also includes the cost of web-hosting. This isn’t to be spent in a single session, but rather over the course of the next few months.

£9,000 Equipment Budget – So, this includes the computer budget for the three members. Production equipment including two Panasonic GH5’s and lens for on-the-go filming. This also included 2 tripods, sound equipment, lighting, additional batteries and camera storage.

£2,500 - The cost of office equipment, desks, chairs, a sofa, projector, printer and other office equipment. Stationary, raid hard drives for initial storage of materials and footage, research literature and office luxuries.

£4,000 - Studio set-up, another reason we invested in this office is because it has an area that can be converted into a studio, allowing us to produce high quality content for the Documentary updates, and also conduct local interviews. This includes backgrounds, lights and sound.

£500 – Travel budget thus far. Spent almost entirely on trains.

£2,000 – Insurance. This is the big essential, we want to make sure that if anything happens to equipment or footage, that the insurance covers replacement and ability to reshoot (God forbid). As well as travel insurances, public liability and employee insurance.

£4,000 – Stock footage licensing, domain purchase, online premium membership (Vimeo, Linkedin), software licencing and plug ins, PAT Testing equipment,

£6,000 Media budget - We have put aside this initial investment into the marketing. The more money we put into this the more we are able to get the exposure and we are already in talks with a few companies to help boost our presence. This will be our way of spending any additional cash flow effectively and easily.

£5,000 – Tax, we have to make sure we are paying the appropriate taxes when converting the currency to fiat. Our accountant will be helping us with this next month, but for now we have put this much to one side to make sure we do not run into any trouble. Next month we will have a more solid idea of exactly how much we need to be budgeting for.

£59,900 budgeted for this month. There is still some money left over from this month that has yet to be allocated, but a clearer layout of how the remaining balance has been invested will be published with next month’s budget breakdown.

We want to say a big thank to Ed Synthesis who has been helping us with a lot of the wallet set up and conversion help. We have agreed a consultancy with Ed to continue over the course of the project, as he’s had successful proposals in the past, so has been invaluable in providing useful information.

He is currently releasing a new pre-proposal to the community next week, in which he has also agreed to allow us to film his story on submitting a proposal to the Dash community, which could make a very relevant segment to the documentary.

He also lives in Bristol, which is awesome.

On a separate note, we have already released a few initial questions to the forum, see them in the links below

1)Who do you think is deserving of an interview and what questions do you think are important to ask them?
https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/7j6ha9/dash_documentary_question_1/

2)Which of parts of Dash & Cryptocurrency history are essential to cover?

It is really important to us to hear the community’s feedback. In the week after the Christmas period we will begin reaching out to key people and planning our routes for the interviews, events and locations we will be shooting.

We hope to speak to many of you soon for ideas and discussions around what should be in specific parts of the documentary. If you would like to talk to us personally or have any questions please email us at [email protected] - We will respond to you.

More updates coming very soon, as soon as we’re in our office and set up, you’ll be hearing a lot more from us. Thank you for allowing us this time to sort everything out for the coming year.

Many Thanks

The Dash Documentary Team

P.S

We are looking for people to work with us! If you think you might be able to fill some roles and help us make the best possible documentary, then get in touch or apply to our job listings! Thanks

Hey guys, we are 100% planning to go to Venezuela and many other locations globally where Crypto projects are gaining a lot of attention. Whilst we're still setting up, we were just lucky enough to find a local story here in Bristol which is right on our doorstep. But don't worry, we've got big plans, and we will start reaching out to people in January. There's lots going on and next month's update will paint a much better picture of where we want to go with this project.

You can expect an email from us AlejandroE in the not too distant future.

Hi Guys,

Our office is now set up in the heart of Bristol, UK. We’ve taken full advantage of our office space and have turned it into a Dash Hub for content creation. We are now equipped with four working desks with computers, a full editing suite, a sound-proof podcasting and content creation room, a sofa & chill-out area, bathroom, kitchen and water cooler.

We plan to start a regular podcasting series to talk about Dash and the latest Cryptocurrency news, as well as a multitude of other topics. We’re also going to start vlogging and doing more video updates this month. We’ll make sure to film some behind the scenes and give a run through of our production set up.

We have a new member of the team, Rachel. She will be handling our social media platforms, SEO strategies and marketing throughout the project. Phil is our new chief editor, he is currently working two days a week to deal with the footage coming in. We are also in the process hiring a second editor to keep up with the workload. Between the two of them, we hope to create a huge archive of footage in order to piece the documentary together, as well as creating content weekly for our social media platforms & blog.

As discussed on Craig Mason’s show and from a discussion on the forum, we are now operating under our Documentary title “Beyond Bitcoin: The new kids on the blockchain”. So all of our social media will be under that name, here are the links to our social media:

www.facebook.com/beyondbitcoinfilm/

https://twitter.com/bitcoin_film

https://www.instagram.com/beyondbitcoinfilm/

www.youtube.com/channel/UC7ukysi7EFM0y2jQ_MUJJlw

And our website www.beyondbitcoinfilm.com which is currently in development. This will become the place for our blog, videos, trailers, contact information, updates on which events we plan to attend and who we plan to interview.

We have a new logo as well, you can see it on any of our social media pages, we’d like to hear what you think about it. It may change down the line but for now this is what we’re going with.

Make sure to give us a like and a subscribe so that you’re the first to know about our latest updates. Content will start to get a lot more frequent in February, so make sure you don’t miss anything.

If you wish to get in touch with us, our new email is [email protected]

So far we’ve hosted 10 interviews for the documentary, a lot of whom are in the Bitcoin meetup groups, we’ve had Dash proposal hosts and cryptocurrency business owners, but that’s just the start. We plan to really hit it hard in February and start sending out emails and contacting everyone that we think would be great for an interview.

We’ve also been gathering large amounts of lovely 4K stock footage. We’ve attended and filmed two cryptocurrency conferences so far and started making connections to film some large-scale events.

So do hang tight, there’s a lot more to come, and a lot more frequently.

We are meeting with a documentary film-maker who is offering us some assistance with potential distribution deals.

We are finalising our conference list/schedule of where we are visiting and will update you with the events we are attending soon.

This month has not been the best for Dash, or any of the cryptocurrencies. Since business must continue and expenses still occur, we’ve taken a bit of a hit on our expenditure this month. Through our exchanges, we managed an average price of £514.50 per Dash. We have exchanged 120 of our Dash, giving us a total of £61,740 which after the exchange is close to £60,000.

Here’s our monthly budget breakdown:

Rent: £1800

Bills: £120 - Water, electric, internet

Core staff budget: £9000 - Our core staff budget this month has stayed the same, £3000 per member.

Company legal fees: £920 - We have registered our project through our accountant and the project is now an independent unit, we’ve paid the initial costing for this. We are also in a building where we are subject to paying office business rates, though hopefully we will be able to claim some of this back.

£1,199 job board membership access and job advert promotion

Office Supplies: £3600, we have completely sound-proofed one room, floor and ceiling (Since there is a Yoga studio underneath us). A work radio, a 4K TV for the AV room, a set of speakers, specialist headphones, cables, splitters & lapel mics, two storage cabinets, 3 tables for the AV room, filing systems, bathroom & kitchen amenities and a few potted plants.

Camera Equipment: £6,500 spent on cameras this month. These are assets for the company so that we can hire them to freelancers that work for us. This is to assure that all our footage is shot at the highest standard.

Equipment Hire: £450 spent on mics, a Panasonic GH5 and a set of lenses. We hired this as we needed it before purchasing our own equipment.

Camera Microphones: £1,000

Monthly Software Subscriptions: £345.94 spent on video editing software,

URL budget: £468 spent on URL’s. Most of which were available through GoDaddy, however one of which had to be bought from an independent seller.

Travel Budget: £2833.89 spent on travel this month. We’ve moved around a lot, this includes trains, planes and automobiles. And parking.

Media Budget: £6000 put aside for our marketing budget which we plan to use next month for advertising.

Computer and technical equipment Budget: £7698
2 editing suits for our team of editors as well as computers for our business administration and social media specialist.

£5000 reserved for Tax at the end of the project

Reserve for June: 36 Dash - This is to be put to one side so that after the funding

Here’s a list of Contractors and items that we have paid for this month.

Logo Designer - £1100
Branding Designer - £400
Animation Artist - £400
Editors - £1800
SEO and marketing strategist - £675
Temporary admin - £750
HR specialist (for employee contracts) - £550
Bookkeeper - £335
Insurance broker (additional items): £140
Accountant - £240
Consultation fees - £330
Man with a van - £125
Sound-proofer - £200

This means we have just over £6,000 left in the bank for this months running and spendings and we have 36 Dash to help with the marketing, distribution, travel and staffing next month.

Thanks again for everyone’s support and watch this space for our latest updates and the launch of our social media and marketing campaign!

Sending an update from the team here at BeyondBitcoinFilm (Dash Documentary Team).

Firstly, we have set up our social media pages, find us on instagram: @beyondbitcoinfilm and Twitter: @bitcoin_film. Our website will be up and running later this week, it will be on www.beyondbitcoinfilm.com.

Here you will be able to find our homepage, some more in-depth information about the documentary and the production process and likely a blog, boosting our search engine presence and helping to establish us as key influencers.

Also, we are going to be at the MPE conference in Berlin next week and are planning where we need to be for all our interviews and events. If anybody is available and wouldn't mind being in the documentary, get in touch and come and find us.

Hi Dash Documentary Team

I am currently working on a pre-proposal that I hope to submit in the next couple of weeks.
I thought I should let you know that I also happen to be based in Bristol.

It would be great if we could get together and have a chat about DASH, and whether we might be of use to each other.

Your proposal was great, and I am really looking forward to seeing the documentary.

Please email me at [email protected]

Many thanks, Lewis D Dring.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your support so far, we are currently on tour in America getting content for the Documentary!

The trip so far has been incredible, we’ve had interviews with some great contacts including Joel Ven from Dash Force News, Dash Developers such as Joshua Seigler and Ian Marshall. We headed over to New Hampshire, Boston and got footage of the free state movement. We spent yesterday with Amanda B. Johnson and have an extensive tour lined up of both Dash Core in Arizona, including a tour of the Dash Labs at ASU where we will be interviewing both Darren Tapp and Ryan Taylor.

Not to mention interviews with Ben Swann and Greg Kerr in New York. As well as attending numerous conferences and events including CL+B Legal hackers, a global hackathon that aims to bring together lawyers, regulators and coders in an attempt to solve some of the biggest problems facing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology today. We’re currently in Vegas and have a tonne of interviews lined up for the next few days. Everything so far is going to plan and we are on track with our shooting schedule.

We have noticed that our current proposal has lost some votes recently and we are are calling upon the master nodes to help us with the final funding to make this documentary a reality. Without the final installments of funding, the project simply will not get through post-production. Please stick with us for the last leg of the project and let us make something really great for Dash.

Make sure to follow our journey on social media too and get all the latest updates
