I am not a simple satellite internet user. I am more than that.

In other words, you've never actually purchased satellite air time, let alone connect one to your computer. Ah yes, you are above such lowly things, right? You see, right there is where you lose a chunk of credibility.

I have never said that. I said that I am not an ordinary satellite internet user. Thats all I have said. Dont put words in my mouth.

I'll put words in your mouth as long as you evade questions with a simple yes or no answer. Right now I'm assuming a person running an old secondhand computer with XP is insufficiently rich enough to buy a specialist satellite dish, let alone to purchase the air time to use it.

It is not XP anymore! It is Lubuntu now! Why do I need to purchase something, in order to get involved? I have never purchase Dash, but I am involved in it , am I not?

Well at least there has been some progress.

Now all you gotta do is listen more than talk. Not for the people here but for your own personal development. It's like a challenge to yourself, to see if you can make more constructive comments than simply scratching an itch every time someone makes a comment that you have an opinion about.

When someone says something, ask yourself, "on a scale of 1 to 10, how strong do I feel about this?". If you feel, say, it's below 6 then let it ride, skip it, don't waste your time on it. Save yourself for when you feel strong about something. This way you can focus on the things that really matter, allow you to be more self-aware to things that really matter to you.

Well, in the specific case related to the disagreement I had with @codablock, I feel 9.9/10 strong that my technical arguments are correct.

The fact that he does not answer, but he came here complaining, gives me 0.1 more, so I feel 10/10 strong now.

Then raise your bar to 10.1. It's not 6 for everyone. Whatever the bar is for you, it's too low, that's why you get criticism from people like me, because you're interjecting more than listening.

If you imply that the specific technical arguments I wrote regarding satellites are wrong, go answer there please , and not here.

The fact that you dont understand what satellite internet really is, doesnt make my comments unrealated. Go read a little bit, and you will understand what I am talking about.
Ok, thanks for posting this. I'm answering now not to continue our technical argument, but to showcase your style of argumentation.
1. The discussion was initially about the original topic, BROADCASTING via satellite. I tried to point out that the limitations of this solution would be problematic for Dash. The OP answered my points, I answered again based on his answers. All was on-topic and technical.
2. demo chimes in, tells us that he is pro-satellite. This is fine, it's his opinion and I wouldn't even ask him to back up his opinion.
3. Now she adds another post:
You are ignorant.
64kbits/s is the upload.
The download is a lot more.
There we go. The first insult and mentioning of "facts", ignoring that she is using the "facts" out of context.
4. I try to point out that she talks about consumer level satellite internet, which is NOT what what the topic is about. I also try to point out that if a bidrectional connection is needed, SPV is the better solution.
5. Now she edits the post from 3., making it look like this:
Half knowledge is worse than ignorance. You are simply uniformed. You are simply wrong.

64kbits/s is the average upstream.
The downstream is a lot lot more.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_Internet_access
Satellite Internet Characteristics
Maximum downlink rate 1000 Gbit/s
Maximum uplink rate 1000 Mbit/s
Average downlink rate 1 Mbit/s
Average uplink rate 256 Kbit/s
Ah ok, some sources of the "facts". Still out of context. Still ignores that we're not talking about consumer internet. Also ignores that the data shown in the Wiki is about TOTAL bandwidth, not per user/broadcast bandwidth. Completely ignores that using just a fraction of the bandwidth is not free, it's actually quite expensive when used for broadcasting.
6. As a response to my post in 5., she posts this:
For what reason to broadcast the blockchain? China, of course!

Go try your SPV in china, if you dare!

Ok...that's the point I realized that there is no chance to have a technical discussion here. Wtf? We tried to figure out if a broadcasting solution is feasible, and now you post such links? Can we PLEASE first figure out if it's technically possible before we go into political discussions? And if you bring such things up, can you please first think about why it would be any different when a broadcasting solution would be used? It'd be a one-way stream, so people won't be able to USE the blockchain, they'd still be required to have a sending channel into the network to send transactions. Why aren't they going to be killed for using that? Where's the difference? And can we please first talk about the TECHNICAL side of the problems to be solved?
6. Now she posts:
Please try to understand that satellite internet is UDP (not TCP).
Please, if you dont really understand something, dont talk about it.
That's not only off-topic and out of context, it's just plain wrong. It would be ok if she just misunderstood it. But she insists on her being right and insults others for pointing out her error. I assume demo somewhere read about UDP being better suited for satellite internet, simply because it doesn't have the ACK overhead/latency of TCP and then somehow mixed that up. That does not mean it's based on UDP. UDP is on a completely different OSI layer.
7. I'm getting angry, asking her to stop taking part in the discussion.
8. Next post by her:
What are you talking, you ignorant? Do we necessarily need to download the blockchain using only http (unicast)? We have better broadcast it, multicast it, anycast it and geocast it, in case the transmission medium allows it !
More insults. More out of context arguments. More mixing up of technical stuff.

Honestly, how should I have a good discussion with you if you don't listen and behave this way?

Ah, just refreshed to see what you posted while I wrote this:

It is hopeless to answer you on a technical level.

Just answer to my last technical question then. From this last one, you may (or may not) understand the previous (technical and non technical) ones, and you may then understand that you are the one out of context, and not me.

After all, I had the internet satellite idea recorded here in this forum, at least one month before anyone else.

Actually, the idea was raised back in 2015 but at the time we didn't have the resources.

Just stop publicly praising yourself as correct at every opportunity. Perhaps you really feel that way but it grinds on others. You don't see whole discussions to ban anyone else, so take the hint.

You shifted the discussion to something off-topic and out of context and now you demand me to answer your question based on that? In the next paragraph you AGAIN shift the discussion to something off-topic. The discussion is not about you, it's not about what you invented before anyone else (and as @GrandMasterDash pointed out, was invented before you even thought about it). It's about the technical feasibility of the idea! What you do is trolling and hijacking, and you even lift it to the next level and do that while we discuss your trolling behavior.

You are wrong. What @GrandMasterDash refers to, is the idea of launching a masternode to a satellite. An advertising bullshit.

This idea has nothing to do with the broadcasting of the blockchain from a satellite.

Stop talking out of context, stop misleading the discussion.

You didn't even wait for him to actually post a link to what he's referring to :D You could have also done your own homework and googled for it...try it...a hint: "bitstat broadcast".

@demo I'm pretty much done with you here. For me, I can just hit the ignore button but I'm just a little concerned about the affect you have on newcomers here that want to positively contribute. There's a lot of new money in crypto (especially dash) that can make things happen and you're seemingly and randomly interjecting without due care.

Forget the satellite thread and all these other things you're finding fault with. Go away and sort yourself out. You don't need to be worrying whether we screw up or not, it's not your concern. Dash can win or fail without you.

I am not going to fall into your trap, and reveal my anonymity.
Just reference quotes in this forum, and not from elsewhere.

Shut up and give us the link you claimed, you liar!

I had the same thought. I could just set him on ignore. But he/she is so massively present in the forum, he makes a very bad impression. He asks critical questions very often, which is perfectly fine. Such things should be asked and people should answer them. But he asks these questions so out of context and with so much half-knowledge, it's extremely hard to answer in a way that would satisfy him. It just ends up in troll wars. On the other side, if we just ignore him it looks like we don't want to handle difficult questions.
