VPNs and Darkcoin - Acceptance Status (Ongoing)

Member
I've been contacting a lot of major VPNs (so far I've contacted everyone on this list) and decided to catalog their responses in case anyone else wants to help make the push to get them started with accepting Darkcoin.

The responses are in the next few posts and are sorted in reverse chronological order. The companies are organized alphabetically. The only editing I've done on the responses is omitting my name and the agent's name that responded to my inquiry.

To better facilitate follow-up I've also added when I last had contact with each company.

So far I've been sending either this (if they currently accept BTC):
Hello,

I noticed that [company] is very privacy oriented and currently accepts Bitcoin as payment. I was wondering if [company] would be interested in adding the privacy-centric cryptocurrency Darkcoin as well?

Darkcoin acceptance would ensure privacy on the payment end for customers that want (or need) additional privacy afforded by this privacy-centric cryptocurrency.

You can find out more about Darkcoin here:
https://www.darkcoin.io/about/what-is-darkcoin/

Along with Darkcoin most other major cryptocurrencies can be easily exchanged for cash (with very low fees) by either of these companies:
https://cointopay.com/index.jsp

https://www.coinpayments.net/

Thank you

Or this (if they do not currently accept BTC):
Hello,

I am interested in [x]'s VPN services but noticed that there are no anonymous payment methods currently available. I was wondering if [x] would be interested in adding the privacy-centric cryptocurrency Darkcoin as payment to give it's customers an anonymous payment method?

Accepting Darkcoin would ensure privacy on the payment end for customers that want (or need) additional privacy afforded by this privacy-centric cryptocurrency.

You can find out more about Darkcoin here:
https://www.darkcoin.io/about/what-is-darkcoin/

Here are a couple of sites that will instantly exchange Darkcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) to cash for a low fee:
https://cointopay.com/index.jsp

https://www.coinpayments.net/

Thank you

Sure we will relook into this soon :D
Hi [Agent],

I understand your hesitancy, especially from a business standpoint.

As for the DarkCoin issues, yes, the Masternode issues have been resolved with one of the latest updates. The drop in price was probably attributed to the switching on (then back off) of the 20% payment enforcement.

The reason it was switched off was that there was some infrequent forking going on with the previous update. This was fixed today and enforcement of the 20% payment is going to be reactivated once the majority of the network updates to the newest version.

Once the enforcement is working correctly Evan is going to focus on InstantX.

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. Hopefully you'll get enough requests in the future to allow your users to pay with Darkcoin.

Regards
Hey,

I am actually a DarkCoin holder but even DogeCoin's take up rate has been very poor. BitCoin transactions still are flowing very well. DarkCoin's price has been a rollercoaster (down 12.6% in last 24 hours?) and implemention has also been riddled with issues. Did they manage to fix their anonymized sending and master nodes? After that debacle, I lost interest in DarkCoin.

Development in Bitcoin's dark wallet and bitcoin fog (although far from ideal and still at an early dev stage) seems to hold more promise to me.

If more people approach me on DarkCoin I will consider it again but for the moment I'm not too keen on accepting DarkCoin just right now.

Hello,

I noticed that bolehvpn is very privacy oriented and currently accepts Dogecoin as payment. I was wondering if bolehvpn would be interested in adding the privacy-centric cryptocurrency Darkcoin as well? Your Dogecoin processor, http://coinpayments.net, currently accepts Darkcoin as well so there isn't a lot of additional configuration needed to accept Darkcoin.

Darkcoin acceptance would ensure privacy on the payment end for customers that want (or need) additional privacy afforded by this privacy-centric cryptocurrency.

You can find out more about Darkcoin here:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I am going to discuss about this opportunity with my colleagues and we will let you know our decision (most probably next week).
Should you have other questions, please let us know.

Hello,

With Bitcoin a customer's payment to ibVPN could be fairly easily traced. Darkcoin has a technology called "Darksend" that greatly reduces the traceability of the transaction. This is useful for clients who want their use of a VPN be known to as few people as possible.

Darkcoin is also working towards "InstantX" which will make confirmation of Darkcoin transactions in a similar time to credit cards (~30 seconds) compared to the ~1 hour confirmation times of Bitcoin.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you
Hello,

Thank you for your interest in our service. Please provide us more details about this payment method. Why would we choose this method and which are the advantages over Bitcoin?
Looking forward to your reply,

Hi,

The mixing nodes simply "sign" transactions after ensuring they are valid. Masternodes never have possession of a users coins.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. You can also see the Darkcoin whitepaper for further details:
https://www.darkcoin.io/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/DarkcoinWhitepaper.pdf

Thank you
Hi! How do you avoid having to trust the mixing nodes?

Hello [Agent],

Thank you for the quick response. There are several solutions out there that will quickly and easily trade various cryptocurrencies to cash. You could check into either:

https://cointopay.com/index.jsp
or
https://www.coinpayments.net/

Both companies have very low fees and can exchange cryptocurrencies to cash instantaneously.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely
Hello,

Thanks for stepping forward.

There are many, many e-currencies out there and unfortunately, not a lot of them is easily exchangeable against cash or services as Bitcoin is.

At the moment, we're finding hard to implement other e-currencies if they are not handled by a gateway that can generate or auto-convert them in another e-currency, or in hard cash.

Do you have some suggestions?

Best regards,

Hi,

We will not use anything else than PayPal,
I cant see any problem to use it either because we cant bind any customer in our system to an transaction made over paypal.

Hello!

We are familiar with the Darkcoin project and follow it closely. We are currently in discussions among the founders of the company on whether we will begin accepting further payment sources. Darkcoin is definitely in the forefront of our discussions. We will likely come to a decision in the next few weeks.

Bumping this thread!
Been in contact with Mullvad VPN regarding the Dash as methods of payment. They are very pleased with Bitcoin as payment method . Informed them about advantages of dash compared with bitcoin and referring them to the dashtalk if they have questions or want to know more.

Edit. Also informed that other VPN services accepts Dash !

Although its an old conversation but its good to recommend.
Seems you didn't contact PureVPN, you should contact them first they accept bitcoins.
