I am trying to find an X11 miner for CPU and GPU that does not report back viruses. I used the links at https://www.darkcoin.io/mining.html and all showing infection:

From:
http://darkcoin.io/downloads/xcoin-miner.zip - Windows CPU Miner
Results:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...994b60079912b6f5ca05efdc/analysis/1402625444/

From:
http://darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-minerd-1.2c.zip - Windows CPU Miner - Avx Aes
Results:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...98f2a732d03abc74b0f8c06cd1d3692bf4c/analysis/

From:
http://darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-sgminer-windows.zip - Windows GPU Miner
Results:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...872bbfd2d1710a015c9ec9c965b2d5da71f/analysis/

And this is consistent no matter where I download any X11 mining software. I cannot believe that there are that many hits for false positives. Please explain what is going on as I want to get clean software.

Thanks

There are botnets out there which use the different flavours of mining executables as payload to mine coins for the botnet's owner/renter on other people's computers...that's why those executables are flagged by the virus scanners. (actually they shouldn't be flagged as viruses because they are actually Trojan horses ).

Download the mining software from the _official_ download links only and you're safe. Or even better do it like I do and download the official source code, preferably check it for unusual changes, and build the executables yourself.
Piece of cake under Linux, a bit more tricky under Windows, but not rocket science.
