Siacoin - a highly efficient decentralized storage platform

Siacoin is a highly efficient decentralized storage platform

"Sia is an actively developed decentralized storage platform. Users all over the world contribute disk storage from their
computers to form a decentralized network.

Anybody with siacoins can rent storage from hosts on Sia. This is accomplish via "smart" storage contracts stored on the
Sia blockchain. The smart contract provides a payment to the host only after the host has kept the file for a given
amount of time. If the host loses the file, the host does not get paid.

The distrubuted nature of the Sia network enables many optimizations in latency, throughput, reliability, and security.
The decentralized nature of the Sia network enables anyone with storage to get paid, lowering the barrier to entry and
reducing the overall price of cloud storage."

Yes, Sia was released in June. Since then, the client has been improved a lot and the highly expected V.0.4 is coming out soon as well.

"For those who are new, Sia is an attempt at a decentralized cloud storage platform. By using encryption, cryptographic contracts, and redundancy, Sia enables a collection of untrusted and unknown machines to be combined into a single logical cloud storage host that is faster, cheaper, and more reliable than traditional cloud storage platforms. And because the untrusted nodes are located all over the world, Sia can become an effective content distribution network at no additional cost. The uploader is at liberty to select the nodes they use, which means they can avoid nodes inside of certain legal jurisdictions, or exclusively use nodes that have public reputation. The decentralization portion comes from splitting the file into many erasure coded pieces and giving each piece to a different host. Out of the hosts holding the file, only a small percentage actually need to be trustworthy for the file to be both safe and accessible." - http://blog.siacoin.com/2015/07/08/the-dream-of-sia/

Sia new client v.0.4.0 is expected to be released in the mid of August. This new client will make dramatic improvement.

Current Sia's storage limit is 500MB. In the next release (in the mid of August) the limit will increase to 5GB (enough for a dvd) and the upload stability will get much better as well.

As the dev mentioned "So far, out of ~1200 files that have been online for ~8 weeks, not a single file has been lost. This is even without the stability and renewing code which we will be introducing in a few weeks."

sorry man
but honestly
how desperate are you ?

6 posts talking to yourself only makes whatever you are trying to promote here very very lame !
think about it

That is exactly my goal to feed more information to the people and keep this thread bumped. But I won't say it is desperatie. It is just a strategy and I believe Sia is a real deal.

Sia is the first crypto platform to provide an industry level crypto application/solution in live production after the invention of Bitcoin. For Sia at this moment, price is a less important thing. The more important thing is to have more people to lease out their spare space to be able to earn money and cheaply store and back up their stuff on Sia platform.

If we want to see crypto to be adopted by none financial industries, Sia is the first hope. If Sia succeeds, many cryptos will be following.

To continue my solo rant here, what Sia really want (or desperately want:smile:) is that individuals come to use and start to build their small business on Sia, just as individuals are doing on eBay, uber, and airbnb to build their small business in the industries without the entry barriers they saw before. Sia as a crypto can make the cost and entry barriers even lower and efficiency higher than companies like eBay, uber, and airbnb.(for instance, while uber charges 28% of payment of each transaction as the fee, Sia only charges 3.9%.)

Just as how Sia works in the cloud storage industry, In the future, we will see cryptos replace eBay, uber, and airbnb.
