SEO and general web visibility

I'm not privvy to the plans of the core team regarding web presence, please excuse this if there are plans already in place.

I've been working as an IT consultant for myself since '00. I've also been creating and running community web sites (forums etc) as a "hobby" almost as long. I'm not going to say what or where but I will say I make 2x on the interwebs than I make being an IT guy, and I make real good money doing IT. I guess I'm only trying to say that I'm not an idiot when it comes to these things.

Constructive criticism inbound:

The #1 problem I see with the DASH web presence is the lack of good SEO. This forum as an example: there are limited meta tags, no meaningful description for the site and no meta keywords on each page to help Google understand how or where to classify the site..... The overall site description is "The Largest Forum for the Dash Currency" which to me is ....meh. I also see that the home page here is "nofollow" meaning that bots just won't index it.....not sure if that's a mistake or not. Forums can bring a ton of traffic due to the large amount of pages that can be indexed. dashpay.io has a little better SEO than this site's, but only a little.

Our official Wikipedia (not our own wiki) needs work, it is one place "G" pulls info from in the search results.

There needs to be an active blog, an official Twitter and Facebook, even Google+. These items need to be professionally run by people who take it seriously. No offence intended here: The DASH Dalmatian is fine and good, but it is more of a cheerleading/fan/tongue-in-cheek account rather than something to take overly seriously by potential investors. The dog is cute, but it's not something that should be considered official. We aren't Doge after all.

These are easy things we can do that will help boost positive visibility. Maybe a professional SEO/marketing/web reputation company should be hired in the future that will take over everything I mentioned above and have it all work together properly instead of against each other, basically clean things up out there in Google. I don't like seeing the negative DASH results in Google overshadowing the good.

I am sure there are others here who have a basic understanding of SEO here that would agree with my observations.

Proposal time?

There needs to be... an official Twitter...

There is an official Twitter:

www.twitter.com/dashpay.

As far as the Dash Dalmatian is concerned, I'm not taking offense, but you should consider researching the history of the account before you dismiss it as just a fan account that people don't take seriously.

It's not a tongue-in-cheek account, it is set up to directly seek out like-minded individuals and invite them to join the community. It is the main account of the Dash Twitter PR Initiative, which has been responsible for the creation of many masternodes and education of numerous people (including VCs, developers, and reporters). I have had very serious conversations with these people that would have had no idea about Dash had the PR Initiative not been created.

It's easy to look at the mascot and say Dogecoin, but that is just my fun-loving style. I like Dalmatians, and it sounds good with Dash.

I have been basically running the only sustained, organized PR campaign for the last year, and my results can be seen by the popularity of the account.

My only wish is that more people would join the initiative and turn up the volume a little bit.

I'm sorry if I sound a little defensive, but I've put A LOT of work into Dash, and your post sounds a bit like minimalizing my efforts.

Overall, I completely agree with everything you said, accept for that point. We do need to work on our SEO, and I would be willing to vote for any reasonable proposal that would enhance that.

Tao.

Yeah, I didn't want you to be put on the defensive. You are and have been the most visible, I agree with you and am not knocking you. I would like to see an official presence as active as you, for the banking institution types outside of our little bubble.

All good, just wanted to explain what I've been doing a little better. Everything else you said I totally agree with.

My post was not meant to disrespect anyone currently volunteering. I'd just like to see a professional SEO firm engaged to take over. They know much more than any of us do about how to make it all work together properly.
