Restore a backup? Please help

I have restored a lost Bitcoin core backup before. For Bitcoin I went to:

user/myname/AppData/Roaming/Bitcoin

Then I deleted the old wallet.dat and replaced with my backup and renamed it wallet.dat and presto! It worked like a charm. I tested it with .1 Bitcoins in case it didn't work, but it worked great.

Anyways, I have some Dash I decided to buy back when it was 4 dollars. That computer took a dump but I saved my backup as instructed. I cannot restore using the same method. I looked all over the forum and the Internet and can't find anything (possibly because of the name change making it harder to find information).

Please help?

Do you have you dash wallet.dat?
What version wallet are you running?

If it's a older wallet before the name change maybe look in user/myname/AppData/Roaming/darkcoin

Your gonna want the most recent version of the wallet though.

Gonna need more info as to WHY you can't move a wallet.dat file to %appdata% and use it
but
first thing first - you should never really delete a wallet.dat file unless you've never used it
or - it's just completely corrupt and dead
Just rename your .dat file to anything to not view it
Change it back to wallet.dat to view them
and yes - that's good info/ques. up there :-D
