[Resolved] 32 Darkcoins disappeared from encrypted wallet.

After being away from the cryptocoin scene for a couple months (well more than a couple) i recently fired up my old darkcoin wallet qt, i knew that it was likely outdated and indeed it would not sync, so i downloaded the newest version of the the qt wallet (version 0.10.15) and started it up. I was 22 weeks behind and it took several hours to synchronize, but from the start it showed i had 0 drk in my wallet even before synchronization. I had 32 Darkcoins when i last checked my wallet.

A few days before i quit mining and paying attention to Darkcoin i lost a thumbdrive that contained a backup of my wallet, i didn't want my wallet to be compromised so i created a new address in my wallet and sent all my DRK from the old address (which was the only one backed up on the thumbdrive) to the new address i created.

Even if someone had taken my old thumbdrive and attempted to send my funds elsewhere, they would still have to enter my passphrase would they not? Even if they did wouldn't it show up in my transaction history as something other than a payment to myself? I'm utterly baffled by this as it seems somehow in transferring my funds between two wallet addresses my coins seems to have disappeared.

rodalan77 That's super weird. Usually it would be because someone gained access to your wallet. Yet in this case, there is no TX record in the QT window to trace.

You need to provide the address of the "Possibly Compromised" Account. That way we could look at the blockchain itself to see if the funds have in fact moved.

With the wallet open, go to the debug window and type in
Code:
listtransactions "*" 1000 0

That'll dump every single transaction ever made in the wallet. There is a space between 1000 and 0.

Youre using the wrong wallet.
If you had any drks, the wallet will show where they went. Especially if you do the command propulsion mentioned.

Personally I think this is f.u.d. from a 1-off message poster.
If calling f.u.d. here is out of place, I wont. but given this thread title, its pics, and another particular thread with a similarly alarming title im just calling it as i see it.

Red-Shinobi No it's not F.U.D. I've just been preoccupied with school and work and haven't had the time or energy to really worry about this till now. I'm about to pull out my laptop and fire up the QT to check to the transaction history like propulsion suggested. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by i'm using the wrong wallet? I downloaded the most current wallet-QT for windows 7 64 bit.

Propulsion here is the output from the listtransaction command:

listtransactions "*" 1000 0

Red-Shinobi right they are at that address which is the wallet address i created after my first address was possibly compromised with my losing my USB stick which the backup.dat was stored on. The problem is it seems my coins were lost in transit.

I do not get it !?
they are lost in transit or translation ?
ether there is something wrong with his wallet or he mixed up the old/new wallet.dat or something !?

I'm wondering the same too. I'm wondering if his old wallet was the 100 keypool version and the new wallet has 1001 keypool...

tungfa i'm not sure how i could have mixed up the .dats since only one existed at the time i sent the DRK and was lost on a thumb drive. When i realized the thumbdrive was lost i immediately created a new wallet address within in the Darkcoin-QT and sent the DRK from the old wallet address (which was the address backed up to the lost thumbdrive) to the new one i had just created just to be safe.

What's the version of your wallet? Are you saying you were using the same wallet version, you didn't install another wallet version, correct?

And were you running your wallet on a computer hard drive or a thumb drive?

moli i created the two wallet addresses within the same version of the qt, then as DRK hashrates skyrocketed i shut down my miners and didn't really pay attention to the crypto scene for a while. The original QT version was 0.9.0.0 . I am now running version 0.10.15.13. Both for windows 7 64-bit ultimate. Both have been run on the same computer harddrive.

Wow.. 0.9.0.0 is a very old version. Did you have your DRK in the 0.9.0.0 wallet and then installed the version 0.10.15.13 before you sent your coins to another address in the wallet?
