Problem with new update for windows 0.16.0.1

I have a wallet.dat address that I want to transfer to the new 0.16.0.1 version of windows, but after successfully installing the current version from the official Dash location, it is impossible for me to execute the file, neither from the shortcut, nor from the location : C: \ Program Files \ DashCore I just double click to run the program and nothing happens. In the past I had an older version installed, but it was uninstalled, 0.14 I think I remember. I would like to know what this situation could be. I have installed and uninstalled the program 3 times already Thank you

Can you simply right click on the dash-qt.exe file and start it as administrator? Does it start now or nothing happens as before?
Eventually deactivate for a while your antivirus software if you have any and try again.
Let us know.
If all above does not help can you go into debug.log file and let us show the last 30 lines?
ps. what windows are you using?
 
I have performed the indicated operations without success.

@Dans Open Run menu with WIN + R combo and paste in "C:\Program Files\DashCore\dash-qt.exe" -resetguisettings and hit ENTER.
If wallet is not starting then, head over to http://staydashy.com/ and sign up for Discord and enter channel #help-desk for further troubleshooting.
 
I am starting to wonder if DCG should issue a hotfix for this issue, instead of this workaround and having it fixed in v0.17 (with backport to v0.16)

@Dans : try to do a -reindex as well --> go to your desktop shortcut to your Dash wallet, rightclick, properties
In 'target' add -resetguisettings -reindex right after your dash-qt.exe --> dash-qt.exe -resetguisettings -reindex
Make sure there is an empty space in between dash-qt.exe and -resetguisettings -reindex

If this works and you want to add your old wallet.dat it should do an automatic rescan and find your Dash.
If not, then do an reindex again with your old wallet.dat

If all of that does not help then replace the new wallet.dat with your old wallet.dat and delete your whole blockchain (make sure you don't delete your wallet.dat).
The wallet will download everything from scratch. You can also put a Dash bootstrap file in there to help speed up things with regards to downloading : https://github.com/UdjinM6/dash-bootstrap

I have given up for the moment. Tomorrow if I have a while I will try again. But it is strange that uninstalling everything still does not fix anything.

My wallet.dat is secured, and my Dash is currently on a shared master node, but I need to be able to access my original address at some point if I want to remove my Dash from the shared node.

Now I can't use discord, but as soon as I can I'll try to find a solution there. At the moment I am not in any hurry, if I had another PC without previous versions I would install from 0, but right now I only have my laptop with me. Thanks qwizzie and the rest of the team, I hope that if there are more users with problems, they will be solved.
 
I have uninstalled the core 0.16.0.1 again

I have deleted the folder in appdata / roaming / dashcore

I have proceeded again to reinstall from 0, and again the same problem, nothing starts at all.

I have canceled windows defender, and I do not have antivirus installed, the only thing I have installed lately on my PC is the new version of metamask chrome.

I have executed the file from the windows command as you have said, even as administrator

I have even tried to install the program on an empty partition on my hard drive, and again the same.

Can anyone think of anything I can do more before looking for another computer without prior installations?

Make sure you download latest wallet version from dash.org or https://github.com/dashpay/dash
Verify the download and the dash-qt.exe with your windows defender.

Go to Windows Security in Windows 10 and check Virus and Threat Security.
Scroll down to reveal the Ransomware protection menu and then select the Manage ransomware protection option.
See if disabling 'Controlled Folder Access' temporary, allows you to properly start dash-qt.exe

I will not try again until there is an update.

I have tried everything I could with my laptop. When I have another computer at hand I will try to install the current version.

Is it possible to get an older version of software that is operational? The one I had previously installed was a 0.14 version but I don't know which one specifically.

I'm sorry that this has happened to me, I had not planned to move my funds from the shared master node for now, but it makes me insecure that I cannot transfer them when I want to. I will stay tuned to the forum in case this problem comes up to more people and a solution appears.

Remove all except wallet.dat from your app data folder.
Download v14 unzip it, start it, let it work for 5 min and switch it off.
Download v15, unzip, start it and let it work till you sync fully - if asked to rebuild do it till you are fully synced.
Download v16, unzip it and start it.
Let us know if worked.

I have installed V0.14 and everything is correct, now I go with 0.15 and also correct, I am in block 4000, I will leave the laptop working and when I finish, maybe in a few hours if I can I will install V0.16 and I will let you know if it has been solved .

After installing version 0.15, blockchain stopped at block 1,163,119 I have rebooted the Dash kernel several times, but it doesn't go any further, there are 48 weeks left and 0 active connections to the Dash network. The last time you used the Dash wallet on September 6, a confirmed transaction appears in the wallet. What do you recommmend me to do?

Well, in this case jump on v16 now, if stuck be sure to not connect to any older peers than v16 . After all we will know instantly if you could open the Walle on new version.
There is also a different solution to go with invalidating of the block you are stuck and reconsider it but first do the thing above and let us know.
 
The wallet version 0.16 runs correctly, but is still stuck at block 1,163,119 and with 0 active connections.

At least now it does load the latest version correctly, it seems we are on the right track.

In a few hours I will return to the forum for your advice on this.

I have proceeded as you have indicated and now it has been synchronized to the end.

Make a couple of transactions to check that everything works, and yes, everything perfect again.

For things like this I understand why I have been trusting this platform and its team for so many years.

I have to say that I have never had a problem with the Dash wallet before.
