Error reading from database, shutting down

I keep getting this error message. Last time it happened I deleted the entire blockchain and started over, but I'm getting tired of doing that. This seems to happen while syncing the blockchain. Here's the message in the debug.log -- is this a known issue? I'm on OSX if that's important.

Well it started working after a reboot. Not sure what's going on, but seems ok now.

Could be disk corruption. Reboot Mac, hold cmd+r until Aplle logo appears - this should bring you in recovery mode. Now run Disk Utility from there, select disk (partition? not sure) and click "First Aid".
