It may be good to produce some PR about this significant event...
Or at least publish a news on official and other sites. It is the biggest change Dash has made in its conception after MasterNodes...

Someone should write an article that this is most probably the very first public democratic voting on the future of a crypto currency on protocol level.

Dash: Democratic Cash
Careful there. If the vote extends only to masternode operators and not the general user, I wouldn't bandy that word.
Embracing a measured vote of the bourgeoisie is far from democracy.

This is an historic moment for crypto. I'm glad to have been a part of this vote, and I'm excited to see the possibilities a constant revenue stream will bring to Dash. Let's use it wisely, and get the most bang for our buck! Evaluation is key, as is making adjustments over time. Let's give our grandkids reason to smile!

If you're on Twitter, you can make some noise RTing these:

This is a historic election that has passed by most people's radar.
Shame there are so many abstains, seems like the no voter ratio is almost as high as real elections.

Tao, I would say about the 4 second off chain transaction locking and anonymity features, which together are not offered (as a bitcoin compatible fork) by any other coin, as well as the innovative funding/voting via the masternodes of course :)
The university dudes are starting to take this on board, courses are beginning to appear around the world for the start of the next year, the takeup stage for the masses is coming, this is a lot of students with smart phones going to be passing it around the campus' in the next couple of years.

General users should not determine ways of development of products (one of reasons: there is no way to be protected from crowd of "fake users"). But they may become (or may not) Dash users - "voting for ready product with their purse".

Voting is privilege of confirmed "shareholders" (MN ops).

This is not a commentary on the implementation or advocacy for an alternative, simply indication that democracy is poor word association.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, but much preferring to maintain honesty over appearances, I will say that I don't know/understand the mechanism by which I, as a Masternode operator am able to cast a vote through my Masternode. I did see that this issue was up for vote, and would have voted "yeah" myself, and from the posts on here it appeared the vast majority were going to vote "yeah" as well, so figuring or finding out how to vote did not have any "urgency" or really any benefit for me. That said, I would certainly like to be able to exercise my "voting rights" as a masternode operator in the future.

So...here are a few questions:

  1. How do I find out what issues are currently open for a vote?
  2. How can I be notified of new issues when they come up for vote?
  3. Is there any way that I, as an operator can put an issue up for vote, or is that something which only the developers can do?
  4. How can I cast a vote?
I strongly suspect that I am not the only one with the questions, and that anyone giving detailed answers to these will be doing a service many other users. I will also be posting the answers on http://PlanetCrypton.com as a tutorial, thus further assisting other users.

Thanks in advance for any information!

"A website will be available that shows current proposals, so that the community can judge which ones are best and proposal submitters can iterate their designs to attempt to improve support."

  1. [*]How can I be notified of new issues when they come up for vote?
In the past I made a suggestion for all MN operators to sign up for emails and be notified when there's an update, etc. But I'm not sure if this has been put in place. We have to ask eduffield about this. In the meantime, you can be informed by checking the Official Announcement forum every day.
[*]Is there any way that I, as an operator can put an issue up for vote, or is that something which only the developers can do?
Yes. "Anyone can start off a proposal by submitting it from a masternode. The data required consists of ProposalName, ProposalURL, PaymentCount, StartingBlock, PaymentAddress and PaymentAmountUSD. The ProposalURL is a json object with a ShortDescription, LongDescription, PDFURL and any other fields that are required to show users."

[*]How can I cast a vote?
How to vote this time: "To vote, simply copy your masternode.conf into your dash directory, open the software then execute the command “masternode vote-many yea” or “masternode vote-many nay”.
To vote with a single masternode you can use the command “masternode vote yea” or “masternode vote nay”."

To vote in the future? Maybe the same, but idk.
