Comment regarding current market environment and impact on DCG
With the latest price movements in the cryptocurrency market there is significant pressure on the DCG budget. Over the past 4 months we have been rapidly reducing both our compensation and non-compensation run-rates to ensure DCG can continue to operate with minimum disruption. The compensation run-rate specifically has been reduced from a high watermark of $485,000 to $380,000 through the end of October. Over the past month, we have taken additional steps to reduce that run-rate from $380,000 to an estimated $295,000 entering the month of January. This reduction is largely driven by additional DCG volunteers foregoing or reducing their salary. Many people on the core team care deeply about this project and their colleagues and a number of contributors preferred their own salaries cut instead of seeing team members forced to leave the project. We would like to thank the many individuals that shifted to volunteer status or reduced their own salary to make this possible. As a result, the price movement has had minimal impact on our plans at a price far lower than we thought possible. Additionally, we are not replacing contractors who leave the project and there were a few contracts that were not renewed. If the price continues to languish at current levels, we will need to reduce our run-rate further. As of now we are slowly absorbing the excess of the run-rate over expected revenue by cutting into our buffer. We have a buffer in place for exactly these types of situations. Our focus remains on retaining our high performers and critical resources.

What does this specific proposal fund?
This proposal funds Dash Core Group's ongoing compensation costs - including all developers, administrative, business development, marketing and support staff.

As of the end of November, DCG had 45 full-time staff and 7 part-time staff. The breakdown of the number of staff we have working in each unit is as follows:

Development and Operations:
Full-time: 28
Part-time: 6

Administration:
Full-time: 9
Part-time: 1

Business development / marketing / customer service:
Full-time: 8

* Full-time defined as contracts permitting staff to bill up to 40 hours a week
** Part-time defined as contracts permitting staff to bill less than 40 hours a week

Please note that our current run-rate is $295,000 after taking into account voluntary pay reductions, recent resignations and the non-renewal of certain contracts. We are asking for pre-pay-reduction run-rate funding of $232,875 as we will be drawing down on our buffer in order to pay for the the current shortfall in funding. If the price were to remain in the $70 range, we will reduce our run-rate further in January. This gradual approach ensures that we don’t over-react to market movements.

If you have any questions, please direct them to @glennaustin in this Dash Forum post to ensure we are notified of your request.

Requested funding is as follows for the January 1st budget cycle:
· 3,095 Dash for core team compensation ($232,875 USD @ $75.00 per Dash)
· 5 Dash proposal reimbursement
Total: 3,100 Dash

Note: Should any funding remain, we will apply it toward future compensation expenses.
