[Resolved] Power failure again, dash-qt problems...

Okay, looks like things are fixed. I unlocked the wallet from the GUI. In Debug, I did dumpprivkey <address>, copied the pair to a file for preservation, and then importprivkey <privkey> <label>. The address showed back up in the receiving address list and all the transactions lists updated to...

[Resolved] Power failure again, dash-qt problems...

Not until I can load the client far enough to get to the user interface, unless there's a command line option to trigger it. How is it done, please? All right, this gives considerable progress: It spent a bunch of time reindexing then loaded up what looks to be the data from one of my backup...

[Resolved] Power failure again, dash-qt problems...

Another power glitch. I had a similar situation in my recent thread: https://dashtalk.org/threads/bus-error-running-dash-qt-resolved.5421/ I did each of the steps recommended there: I rebooted with a forced fsck; ran dash-qt with -reindex; removed mncahe.dat and peers.dat... Finally, renamed...

    "Bus error" running dash-qt [Resolved]

This was all it took. I'll deal with the update when I get back to my machine later. Created the forcefsck file and re-booted. I didn't see any errors being flagged or corrected during the fsck, but at least now we're sure. Thank you very much, both of you. I appreciate the swift help. M.

    "Bus error" running dash-qt [Resolved]

I had to re-boot my machine after a power failure. When I try to re-start my wallet the splash screen comes up, it spends some time "loading block index," then "verifying blocks," then the splash disappears but the wallet never shows up. In fact, dash-qt disappears from the system monitor...

Running dash-qt the first time did something...

Found the answer to my question... When it ran the first time it created a ~/config/Dash directory containing a Dash-qt.conf file. That contained all the options data, including the data directory path. I manually cleaned things up and pointed everything to the right directory, and the program...

    Real basic questions...

In the vein of "Real basic questions..." While I've been figuring out some problems compiling a gpu miner, my CPU miner has been diligently churning out between 130-150kH/s for about 4 days into a p2pool node. Looking at graphs of other miners over the last month, I can see that a few other...

    Real basic questions...

That doesn't surprise me. I'm sure that's why everybody says the same things and pushes ccminer for nvidia. It wouldn't make any sense to use sgminer if you were serious about hashrate. If bitcointalk ever comes back up this morning, I'm hoping to get some help with ccminer on the thread there...

    Real basic questions...

That's interesting, Starin. EVERY single mention I've seen of sgminer says to use it on AMD cards, and to do ccminer for nVidia. If sgminer will "do" nVidia, as you've demonstrated, then I can at least use it to get the experience that I want. Maybe it'll even handle my stone-age hardware...

    Real basic questions...

I'm making slow progress, but I'm really running up against some obstacles. I realize mining's not a hot topic these days, but I'm starting to doubt the enthusiasm of this community. You've got the third biggest crypto-coin, but no help for a newbie who's TRYING to learn? This would apply to...

[Noob-Proof] How To Install Cpuminer under Ubuntu/Linux

I need to give you a heads up. This procedure is not "Noob-Proof!" The above commands don't account for the fact that occasionally aptitude gets squirrelly and decides to remove things it shouldn't. If the user has any kind of quirk in his package configuration, this can trigger a dependency...

    Real basic questions...

Well, I've got at least partial answers to some of my own questions now, plus a few more. Any input would be much appreciated. The --help switch seems to be as complete a list as I'm going to get. I've found no description of the config file's format (other than it being described as JSON...

Building a Rural Wireless Mesh Network

I've long thought that we're going to need to build our own alternative to the internet. One which is everywhere that people are who might want to use it; that's anonymous and encrypted end-to-end; one for which the price of admission is to bring your own bandwidth and storage. At the rate...

Completely off topic - Guns Laws in America

Mostly I'm looking for a thread to reply to so my post count is high enough to post links in my other thread. This one caught my eye. :what: FWIW, outside of the anti-gun enclaves of major cities, the violent crime rate in the US isn't anywhere near the problem you'd think it is. In fact, the...

    Real basic questions...

I've just started CPU mining this afternoon for the very first time! And I have a few questions... I understand I'm not doing this for profit. With ALL of the piddling little hardware I've got laying around I'm likely to spend $20 on electricity to "earn" only a coin or two of Dash...
