Oh boy...not to encourage demo...but just to make sure everyone else has the correct impression... To quote my original proposal... And Wikipedia... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackathon

Dash at SF Hacks '18: Proposal Update #2

Hi all, I would like to share the second and final update from the Dash @ SF Hacks '18 proposal with you all. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with what is going on here, please read the original proposal (or the tl;dr posted at the top of it)...

Dash at SF Hacks '18: Proposal Update #1

Hi all, It has been a busy month of designing, ordering, organizing, interviewing, and preparing, but the time has come for me to share a first status update on preparations for Dash at SF Hacks 2018. I apologize for the update post being slightly behind schedule, but everything else with the...

    Central California Convenience Stores

Could you elaborate a little bit on your plan? As a California resident (who admittedly only occasionally visits the central valley), I would be incredibly excited to be able to spend Dash at any brick-and-mortar stores. I can see the obvious upside for the businesses being the low transaction...

    Mining dash no longer profitable??

There probably isn’t a particular best one that I could guarantee any reasonable degree of security with IMO, or I would be pouring my money into mining. The only quality worth looking at for long-term viability is hashes/watt, because this will improve over time (due to technological...

    Mining dash no longer profitable??

I have to agree with stan.distortion here. It is incredible how little people understand something that they are dumping thousands of dollars into. The value of the currency is directly tied to the profitability of mining and therefore whether people enter or leave the mining market. As hash...

Dash Hackathon Sponsorship at SF Hacks ‘18

Dash Hackathon Sponsorship at SF Hacks ‘18 tl;dr My proposal is to have Dash sponsor a hackathon (an event where hundreds college students get together and create innovative products to compete for prizes). We will hold a Dash giveaway to get more students into the Dash ecosystem and we will...

Pre-proposal: Hackathon Sponsorship & Dash Giveaway

Yes, I am familiar with this. It is the method used to implement cross-chain atomic swaps between various "dumber" currencies (relative to Ethereum). The point of this is to raise funds that I do not have. I cannot put 5 Dash in a wallet, because I don't have $5K lying around. I'm not sure I...

Pre-Proposal: Alternative Budget System. How much do you pay for someone to do a job?

I appreciate the decentralized sentiment, but I think demo's implementation strays from viability. Perhaps a system where escrow DAOs are built in would serve the same purpose. Smart contracts (Ethereum-style) would immediately allow this. Example sketch: A fiat valuation escrow contract takes...

Pre-proposal: Hackathon Sponsorship & Dash Giveaway

Couldn't agree more. But reality is reality, so you'll just have to trust me and hope that if I'm a thief, I'm at least a reasonably rational one. Perhaps, now that I've reached the minimum post count, a link to my LinkedIn would lend a little more credibility. It shouldn't be too difficult for...

Pre-proposal: Hackathon Sponsorship & Dash Giveaway

I totally agree for the time being, which is why I put it in my proposal. However, it is definitely the case that at scale, we will want larger budget proposals to reduce the ratio of burned proposal fees to true value-creating expenditures.

what exactly are issues with Proof of stake ?

So do most fiat currencies by the way. As the Ethereum constantly gains in real value due to new technologies being built on it, demand for the currency rises, and consequently so does the price. This counteracts any inflation due to supply increases. As for the US dollar, we have slight...

what exactly are issues with Proof of stake ?

Some more philosophical than technical thoughts of mine on PoS, in no particular order: PoS is a plutocracy. Personally, that really isn't my favorite type of government. Classic democracy is more my style, but that requires proof of individuality to ward off Sybil attacks. Somewhat of a...

Pre-proposal: Hackathon Sponsorship & Dash Giveaway

Yeah that's more or less what I was suggesting. If 5 people give me 1 Dash, I would give them each back 2 Dash, etc. While I personally think this is kind of a waste of treasury funds, the budget is well over half empty, so who cares, as long as it gets the job done and brings about a project...

Pre-proposal: Hackathon Sponsorship & Dash Giveaway

Hi all, I'm a little new to the Dash forums, but I hope you all like this proposal, and I would greatly appreciate feedback on how to make this viable. I am proposing to have Dash sponsor a collegiate hackathon in my area. For those of you unfamiliar, a hackathon is an event where a group of...
