What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

Bingo and good seeing you post again.

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

...and no one said it was the only idea. People seem to think that it's Dash or Darkcoin, that's not it. It's about opening the community up to reception about potential names and viability in the long run. To weigh the pros against the cons. If you're only thinking about the crypto markets and...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

I'm more for a name without the "coin" attached to it. The masternode network has immense future potential for projects beyond just currency applications.

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

That's not the point. Darkcoin did it's job in the beginning and has gotten us to where we are today but Darkcoin in the beginning is different than Darkcoin today. What started as a privacy-centric project has turned into a viable, fast confirm method of transacting business. No one is saying a...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

This comes off as a bit condescending... not sure if that's what you were going for or not, but I'm not going to stop the subject until it is actually discussed by numerous members of the community, let alone the foundation. It's worthwhile to have everything aired out in the open. If the cons...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

If you're pointing out opinions, then your opinion is discussing something like this in the open means us appearing insecure, unsure, lacking direction and lacking cohesion. That's your opinion on the matter and not the only that matters (much like you directed at my opinion). You can't compare...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

Is it not fair to have the community address pros and cons as well? As I already said, if having meaningful discussions about branding is enough to scare off potential investors, then it further proves my point that the market is too narrow.

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

No one is saying the name change will happen. We're all adults and having a meaningful, educational discussion is healthy for the coin. I'll be the first to admit, every other name change suggestion till now (and it seems to happen every couple of months) I have been against, but with recent...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

I'm assuming this was directed at me, but herd mentality doesn't solve anything. Blindly agreeing to keeping the name the same without at least entertaining the potential of what could come from changing it is pretty obtuse. We are all pushing for adoption and just like you, I am out there...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

lol, it is what it is. You can't change the majority's perception of English language overnight. I would love to be proven wrong about being able to achieve mass adoption while keeping the name the same, but I'm a realist and know that any efforts are going to be that much harder just for the...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

I've already said my peace, I'm not going to push the issue any farther than it already has been. I've made my points--Evan, the team, the foundation, etc, can all evaluate pros and cons in moving forward. As I said, I am fine with Darkcoin's name as is if people realize that mainstream will not...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

Source code is a find-and-replace sort of deal (much like what happened when it went from XCoin to Darkcoin or how we are currently replacing all the Bitcoin text in the 0.9 branch). Websites would have their domains forwarded to the new appropriate link. The foundation would have to file...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

True, but by all accounts a $10 million dollar market cap is nothing in the grand scheme of things, let alone factoring all the potential end users out there. Just because it got there in crypto land, doesn't mean it will make it to large user adoption keeping the name as is. Don't get me...

What's in a name? ...or, is a rose by any othername worth the trouble?

Not only that, Dash by definition, is fast--would also play off instantx as well as be able to use the existing D logos and the likes.

Does the old masternode drk.mn explorer still work?

That's not even accurate for payout information. You're pulling it from drk.mn which is still stuck on block 189467, found 21 hours ago. The payout is about to be increased to 35% or roughly (576 x 5) 2880 x 35% / Node Count (1645) or ~ 0.612 DRK/day

DRK ..... Current Branding / Corporate Identity ... Official / Affiliated

How is naming it Dash any different than Ripple, Stellar, Monero, etc. People don't just affix coin to the end of it when they talk about it. As for the other coin, it's pretty dead. Darkcoin originally snagged the name from a different dead project iirc (or maybe it was Xcoin, not sure anymore).

DRK ..... Current Branding / Corporate Identity ... Official / Affiliated

No, I'm not for naming it Dashcoin, I am for naming it Dash. No need for the coin part. That's only if it came down to a rebrand. I think the idea of mashing digital cash together into a word that also is synonymous with fast (i.e. instantx) makes sense, not to mention it keeps the D and all the...
