The collaboration with the Mycelium team continues, they keep making progress on their wallet and the Dash team has been highly responsive to any requests for support. Although initial joint press announcements back in July anticipated an October release, there have been delays versus the initial plan, though these are not within the control of our team. Mycelium is transitioning its wallet to a new version that includes many changes, such as library updates and modularization to their existing BTC wallet. These changes need to be completed first before Dash could be added.
Along with the architectural changes, they are working on a new UI and some additional capabilities such as SegWit support. To accelerate the development process Mycelium decided to split the work into two parallel streams.
The NEW wallet (with the new UI) will now be implemented separately from the modularization of Classic wallet, and the Dash integration will be incorporated with the update of the Classic wallet. This will speed up the integration process. The NEW wallet will be released at a later date.
The changes are rather extensive:
- In preparation of Dash integration in Mycelium (classic), the transaction broadcast and receive was moved to a module
- Securing communication between modules involved additional research
- The Dash module has been updated, to make it consistent with the Bitcoin module
- Changing the main programming language from Java to Kotlin
We continue to follow the development process closely and will keep the community updated as new information becomes available.
