I had mixed 50 coins in my wallet but my computer died so I had to reinstall the OS (Windows). I used a backup copy of my wallet and downloaded the latest wallet, but for some reason, all those mixed coins are now gone. I tried all the wallet recover options and re-downloaded the blockchain twice but no luck.

Can anyone help me with regards to this?

- what system are u on ?
- is the new wallet synced ?
- is the new wallet using the old wallet.dat file ?

Windows 10 64 bit
New wallet is completely synced
Using old wallet file (usewd it with version 0.12.0.56)

so before you had 50 Dash (mixed or not), now you have ZERO ?

Is there safe I can download version 0.12.0.56 from? I can try using that QT and see if those missing coins turn up

It's appear that all those mixed coins are in newly generated address which is not exists in old backup wallet.dat file, Best chance is trying to recover the latest wallet.dat from the died computer to get the key for mixed addresses.

I'm afraid that @thelazier is right - if you wiped out your hard drive before reinstalling windows and your latest backup was more then ~200-300 mixing txes ago then most likely you won't be able to recover them...

I don't want to cheer you up with this but I made the stupidiest error during the mixing and lost forever 700 coins. Tough lesson. If someone mixes the coins need to do backups quite often + provide additional keys for mixing as these finishes quite quickly.

there's a slim chance you might be able to recover the wallet.dat if the disk sectors weren't overwritten in the reinstall and your subsequent activity

try an advanced scan in this http://www.active-undelete.com/

some alternatives:
http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm
http://www.piriform.com/recuva

i would say the chance is v. low if you've already reinstalled the OS / been running programs as you probably overwrote those sectors already.

if it was a huge amount lost you could try hardware recovery but for $300 it probably wouldn't recover it

could we use deterministic wallet to create the wallet address used as mixing ? that would help alot with these potential problem.
