Proposal to enhance user adoption and onboarding

Hello everyone, We here at Superhero Printing and Graphics are putting together a budget proposal for on boarding users of the Dash currency. We have an “on the ground” approach as to how adoption can be achieved. I am looking for feedback on how many people would participate and what the right tools may be for our program.

Our plan is to develop tools that different interested parties can use to foster brand awareness and knowledge about DASH. We plan to highlight good quality resources such as wallets and other apps as well as list merchants that want to do business in DASH and put together a brief guide with all the steps for how to get DASH, how to keep it and where to use it. Essentially stringing together the whole circle of actions that need to occur for good adoption of DASH and the establishment of a robust user community.

Some of the interested parties we have identified as participating in this program:

  1. People who conduct organized presentations or who have tables or booths on behalf of DASH. These may be individuals from crypto groups, wallet creators or other app creators.

  2. People who like to evangelize DASH and do so in an informal, one on one way usually with friends, family and business acquaintances.

  3. Businesses that sell products or services using DASH.

The tools we have identified to create and distribute:

QuickStart Guide- Brief trifold guide that succinctly educates potential users about DASH and its benefits and pulls together quality, reputable resources for buying, holding and spending DASH.

Table Top Display Banner- For use at meetups/ presentations/ conventions at a table or booth or even on a podium for a speaker.

Lapel Pin- Logo with maybe some text like “Expert” or “Ask Me About DASH”.

Logo’d Drawstring Back Pack- For people to keep their DASH kit together. Also a very popular everyday useful item that can carry the brand forward.

Logo’d Brochure Holders- To put quickstart guides in. Great for meetings/ conferences but also great at point of sale with merchant locations.

Window Clings- Primarily for merchants to advertise that they take DASH

Sticker Variety Pack- For use by anyone, portable branding and community building

Phone Wallets- A silicon pocket you stick on the back of your phone, it can hold a few business cards, an id, whatever. The point is that it is on an item that everyone has on them all the time so the brand gets spread around.

Our plan is to also build a website where these items can be ordered for no cost, or perhaps just the cost of shipping.

This is where we need you; Would you be interested in receiving free tools for outreach and onboarding? Are there other tools/ items you’d like to see? Are there other interested parties we need to include?

What initial quantity do you think is needed for each?

QuickStart Guide: 1000 / 2500

Sticker Variety Pack: 250 / 500

Window Clings: 100 / 250

Guide Holder: 100 / 250

Table Top Display Banner: 25 / 50

Phone Wallet: 100 / 250 / 500

Lapel Pin: 100 / 250

Drawstring Back pack: 100 / 250

Thank you for helping us understand the demand for this project. I look forward to your comments as we assemble our full proposal.

As you may have seen, Ryan Taylor (babygiraffe) has a budget proposal in for this cycle to get almost $2,400 worth of conference materials -- maybe, if he doesn't already have a vendor, you could create the materials he desires and thus have some ready-made templates to use: https://www.dashcentral.org/p/cnf-materials-201701

Other than the "Dash core" crew who have been funded to go to multiple presentations, I'm not sure how much demand there would be for table top display banners. Perhaps a few, priced right, would be bought in the near future.

Question, you note: "Our plan is to also build a website where these items can be ordered for no cost, or perhaps just the cost of shipping." So would the proposal for which you're soliciting input cover the cost of y'alls time to create the resources and the resources themselves? A nominal fee (even the shipping) would better ensure those requesting the items would put them to use (rather than some troll, or someone well-intentioned but who lacks the initiative, acquiring resources and not putting them to use).

There could be some value in the QuickStart Guide but as things in this space change so quickly I'd worry it may become stale soon. Perhaps even more so in Dash.

I do like the "Ask Me About DASH" tagline -- could be a good way to get conversations going. And it's not so time-dependent as the information on the QuickStart Guide. Perhaps on the drawstring backpack or window clings (for vehicles) or bumper stickers or -- depending on their size -- lapel pins.

Almost everyone carries a smartphone these days, so the phone wallet could have utility.

Not sure how many Dash-oriented meetups there are these days but it may make sense to contact a point-person from each to inquire what would be most helpful to them on the ground.

I have contacted him about this, thank you.

Yes the budget we would submit would cover our time and cost creating the first run of products, we would like to offer them to the users of this forum free of charge and cover our cost of shipping them to everyone, if we print more than what is requested we could offer them for just the shipping cost so we know people ordering are genuine about getting them out to people. In addition to left over supply we could offer any of the products we prepared for the wholesale cost. So if we decided to only print 100 Lapel Pins, but someone wanted to order 100 more for an upcoming event, they can do that right from the shop at the standard price as the design and die are already paid for.

We have thought about creating a new web site but the simple solution for us would be to create a page like dash.superheroprinting.com and adding cart items to that page, we also would want to offer dash as a payment method. We currently accept Dash just not in our online shop, soon this will come together.

I understand your point about the quick start guide becoming out dated, lower quantity's could be printed and the layout could change over time. Thank you for your feedback.

(Why does this remind me of those brochures people were making for the Ron Paul campaign lol)

In terms of your possible interested parties, I don't really see #3 (businesses) as a significant factor right now. #1 might be the best use case, but we already have a proposal this month for conference materials. And while I agree that #2 is important, I'm not sure that these materials would be worth it. When talking informally to family or friends, the effectiveness of a pin or brochure is miniscule compared to the real life person who can explain to them about dash or cryptocurrency with good old word of mouth. So I don't think I would support a network subsidy for this, but I'd still be interested to hear from more people.

Thanks for the feedback @TroyDASH,

Can you elaborates as to why a business that accepts Dash would not be a good place for promotional material? A brick and mortar business can put out fliers and stickers on the counter top near the registrar and other areas of the store. An online retailer has the ability to add a flyer about Dash in shipped orders that likely where not paid for in Dash, or if it was paid in Dash send that person a sticker too.

I agree that the pin or brochure is less effective than a one on one conversation from a trusted friend or family member but the idea here is that they will need to keep seeing Dash information before they get involved or act on your encouragement. Leaving more information with them or if they just see your lapel pin all the time is a great reminder from you that they should act on your suggestions.

I have reached out to @babygiraffe and hope to hear from him this week, if I could earn his business printing the conference martial that would be great, obviously he and the core team have a better idea of what is needed most. I have seen graphic designers who accept dash but not a printer. A quick scan of the list in his proposal and I can print and source each item he identified. We do good work, we are open to Dash as a payment type and I can supply a reference or two from community members I have printed for with Dash.

Just for some background, I started thinking about this idea in August but decided to hold off until the new year, the past month I have not been paying attention to this forum and the other proposals, I have no plans on putting this proposal forward this month but rather just wanted to get community feedback as to what this budget might look like and how it could be most effective.

I have added Superhero Printing to Spenddash.com but you can learn more about us at Superheroprinting.com.

We don't need to convince people that our turd is the shiniest. We need to stop playing the marketing BS games and get down to brass tacks with VENDORS.

It doesn't matter how great you think you are if nobody can use DASH because nobody accepts it, because it's not actually that great...

The vendor doesn't want to become your disciple. They want to run their business, not sell your idea for which they gain nothing.

If anything, we need ways to deflect the cryptotards so that they don't become a menace to the vendor and have the vendor decide that it's just not worth putting up with these people... "Why don't you accept [insert name of worthless bag being held by clueless idiot]?" Followed by the nagging discussion about things the vendor doesn't know, doesn't want to know... GO AWAY! TAKE YOUR STUFF AND LEAVE!

POS service needs to consider keeping things smooth... "If you don't have DASH, use shapeshift.io. Please don't bug the vendor with non-sense ponzi crap."

We also may have to consider that statists may try to intimidate vendors accepting cryptocurrency. If they sense potential liability from the dirty guv, they'll bail. Most MN operators think they're anonymous because they never bothered to do research. Most users have no idea that they have to actually mix to gain privacy... I know several MN holders who have bailed because of the failure to add any protection for the 2nd tier network. They're not even on the front lines. Vendors are given no choice but to sleep with the enemy just to exist. If no concern is given to them, why should they give any to DASH? So far, DASH has proven to be so self-absorbed an snowflake-y that it's as if they had no idea that vendors even existed, or that they were important to DASH's usage model, or why anyone would want to do anything other than dismantle all businesses and redistribute their money because we're all flaming neo-soviets here... Why should people who think like that have the slightest concern for the vendors' needs? Duh, that's exactly why they haven't bothered to care about vendors' needs... They'd just as soon kill the vendors and steal their stuff, than listen to their needs...

The ponzi-head cryptotards keep whining about the user experience. You can't polish that turd any more. It's effing irrelevant. Stop being a bunch of selfish socialists and pay at least a little attention to the needs of the vendors.

Drew did these for Bitcoin a few years back and they were in stock at Brave New Books and the Texas Bitcoin Conference. They were a good tool for giving to customers to explain Bitcoin so that who was working the cash register didn't have to spend a lot of time explaining it to everyone that asked. Definitely would be a plus for Conference materials.
