What version of darkcoin wallet did you use? Darksend functionality for transactions is only available in 'RC' versions. Most current version (0.10.11.6) can be downloaded from darkcoin.io website. Please note that there is a limit of sending 9.99DRK anonymized at the moment.

When using current stable version your transactions is as private as every usual coin transaction - like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin.
