Proposal: Dash Electrum Support and Development Oct 2021

Electrum is probably the most popular open-source SPV wallet for bitcoin. Early 2017 I've picked up maintenance and support for DASH Electrum. Since then, I've assembled a small team of three developers. This is a proposal to fund the continuing development and support for Dash Electrum.

Execution and Schedule:

Work already performed or in progress. Deliverables are released publicly as soon as they are ready.

During next 3 months we plan to work on the following:
  • follow the upstream development
  • fix dash-specific issues (see github)
  • alternative mixing capabilities

Amount requested:

After paying Sep salaries, we are left with 90.71 Dash. We will use those funds in the following work and they are included in this proposal.

At current exchange rate of 187USD/Dash our run rate is ~80.22 Dash per month.
  • 80.22 Dash * 3 month = 240.66 Dash
  • 5 Dash proposal submission
  • -90.71 Dash leftover
Total: 154.95 Dash or 51.65 Dash per month (52 Dash per month, rounded up)

As usual, in case of DASH appreciation, any leftover funds would be spent to extend the duration of the project. In case of DASH depreciation, we will go into a deficit mode again and will submit a new proposal after the end of this 3 month period.

Unless there would be material objection, this preproposal would be posted as complete proposal around Monday, Oct 11th.

Dash Electrum is a great wallet, and their proposal deserves to be funded. It is crucial infrastructure that a lot of dash users rely on.

Don't misunderstand me, I like Dash Electrum because it is not DCG, but I'm also considering the total costs and the fact it is mostly just maintenance / porting.

Not quite. We're working on new features: JoinMarket support (non-masternode mixing) and, after the release, will proceed to DLC implementation with an idea to introduce synthetic assets to Dash and, thus, open in to DeFi ecosystem.
