Not capable masternode: Could not connect to IP

I just updated my masternode and I cannot figure out why I cannot get it restarted now

I do the

masternode start YOURPASSWORD

and receive

"0not capable masternode: Could not connect to IP"


I've tried resetting the firewall and everything else that I could think of including deleting the peers.dat

I'm at a lost.

Running Ubuntu 14.04.2 upgrading from Dash 11.2.22

Used Tao guide

I scarpped the server build when it failed to work from the backup taken prior to upgrade. I have it up an running again. Thanks for looking into it
