Mining at a loss???

I am mining with 5 7970s equaling to about 7500 kh/s. I use the calculator to see how much I am making and i'm not! i 'm actually loosing $2.5 a day! Am I doing something wrong!? Am I missing something!? How can this coin survive if mining is not profitable???

7500kh/s seems quite low actually, I could easily get 2.4Mh/s from my 7970 (under linux and OC-ed) with this config: https://gist.github.com/Scriptiee/e925a6d8b339c0eec264

And tbh if you believe in the long term valuation of this coin mining now will not be at a loss.

I was mining bitcoin with my 7970 at the beginning of 2013, which at the time was at a loss as the coin was only around a $10. I have sold last december at a $1000 per coin

To be honest, I haven't optimized my cards and thought tue hash rate was pretty good! I actually heard that 7970s were supposed to get 330-400 kh/s for DRK, but that might be for vertcoin (or is that a different algorithm?) Thanks for the settings!

I have a couple 7950s in my mining farm. With 1050 engine, 1450 memory, +20 powertune, and intensity 19 in cgminer 3.3.0, they get 1.9 Mhash each consistently. 5 should be getting you 9500 Khash, not 7500.
