In a bizarre turn of events, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee has sold all his litecoin and ShapeShifted to Dash. Mr Lee said, "it's not because I no longer believe in litecoin but rather because I exerted too much influence within the community and had the ability to move the markets through my public comments on Twitter and other public platforms. IMHO, this was the best way forward, now I can tweet all day about litecoin with a clear conscience."

When asked about regrets, Lee replied, “This is definitely a weird feeling, but also somehow refreshing. I will still try to spend some time working on Litecoin, just as soon as I've finished setting up my dash masternode."

Mixed Response from LTC Community

However, Lee’s announcement received a mixed response, with some community members praising him for his “sacrifice”, while others questioning his lack of “skin in the game”. But Lee was robust in his response, "Look", he said, "I had a choice of either living on inflationary fiat money, or switching to dash, digital cash. It was a no-brainer".

Mike Novogratz, the billionaire manager of $500 million crypto hedge fund Galaxy Investment Partners, questioned whether it was a good move, stating on Twitter that he would be worried if Ethereum co-founders Vitalik Buterin or Joseph Lubin liquidated their ether balances.

“I think it’s extremely bullish!” Lee replied, "we all know crypto is the future, and what better way to prove it than sell all my litecoin for something better."
