when moving the darkcoind file to my vps while using WinSCP ...

do i need to be logged in as root or as my 2nd username i created in winSCP ?

login in into your vps with user credentials.
in vps as root do the command:
add username yourname

exit

login into vps using user you created and download darkcoind directly from your putty, you don`t need to use winSCP
