They could've simply been swallowed up by the creeping feature creature, never really followed etherium but I was looking forward to seeing it, when they started there was a realisation in the air that there where even more mindblowing things than economic independence possible and they jumped on it. That looked like a clear path forward at the time but it was just the first little flame of an explosion of ideas, try to create the cutting edge in cryptocoins today and its a generation behind tomorrow. Its impossible to stay at the forefront because the forefront is moving too fast.
An example, I always wondered why the Occupy Wall Street crowd haven't got behind Bitcoin and I've come to the conclusion they simply haven't woken up to it yet, haven't had the realisation that a single well place cryptocoin can do more the a million hippies camped on investment banks doorsteps (a 10 megahippy crypto
). That's hardly surprising as there's not much social overlap and even the social next door neighbours are only getting started, the possibilities for tor and bittorrent alone are mindblowing.
When etherium got started they saw some of the amazing new things that could be done with the blockchain, from here you can see a whole new internet and that's one big, fat bastard of a creeping feature creature.
