The Dash Core Group team is pleased to announce that we are preparing to launch the DashCopay wallet application on iOS and Android.

High level features of this new wallet include:

  • Create and import personal wallets

  • Create and join shared wallets (multi-signature)

  • Send and receive payments via QR code or copy/paste address

  • Create address book

  • View transaction history

  • Invite friends via email, text or social

  • Set local currency

  • Set desired network fees to increase/decrease confirmation times

  • Touch ID for log in (iOS)

We faced several challenges in the implementation of this project. However, we made a promise to the community to deliver DashCopay to support the need for multi-signature mobile wallets. The challenges included third-party vendor management as well as underlying architectural issues inherited from the reference Copay wallet. Despite the challenges and delay in delivery, we feel that this product will be of value to many members of the Dash community.

Because the Copay code was so challenging to adapt, we are planning a phased rollout to identify any remaining issues with the software. We will have a phased rollout to minimize risks and maximize our ability to find and resolve bugs. After each phase, we will evaluate results and determine whether we should move on to the next one.

The phases will be as follows:

1) Beta version for testnet (30-day test)
2) Beta version for mainnet (30-day test)
3) Production launch with gradual rollout by geographical area

If you would like to sign up to be a beta tester, please follow these steps:

iOS
  1. Send an email to [email protected] with your preferred email address

  2. Look for an email from Testflight and follow the instructions

Android
  1. Download the DashCopay public beta in the Google Play Store on June 22 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dashcore.dashcopay
[Edit on June 23: While preparing for our release, we discovered a bug to critical functionality. We are actively working on a fix and expect to continue our deployment within the next few days. We will keep you informed here.]

We ask that you report issues and feedback on the Dash Forum’s ‘Copay Support’ board: https://www.dash.org/forum/topic/copay-support.139/

I am glad to see this milestone finally achieved. I wish the DASH core wallet would taken as much attention as this one.

From what I understand from the Dash Copay wallet, it was a project that in hindsight maybe should not have been done in the first place. But now it's almost finally there it's wallet will certain, add to the user experience at-least until Evo is out in full force.

Question: Once the Dash Copay wallet is up and running what will happen to the Copay wallet Dev team ?

Per our Release Plan for Dash Copay announced last week, the testnet versions for Android and iOS are both available for testing. The Android version is currently available in the Play Store for public beta (i.e. unreleased in Google terminology). The iOS version can be tested through TestFlight by sending your e-mail address to [email protected]. We aimed to release last Friday, but ran into a few logistical issues getting the builds put together. We are intending this phase of the release to last 30 days to find any remaining issues prior to releasing a beta for mainnet. Thanks in advance for your support during our beta testing.

Ready on iOS Testflight;)
Do we get a list of identified issues that have been resolved?? The build notes for the iOS version are "Hey check out our latest build" - some professionalism to software development update principles from the Core team would go a long way......who have you got coding this? Monkeys?

Where is the android build?

I hope core has completed internal testing of this before releasing to the public. We are beta testers, NOT internal testers.

I agree, a list of resolved improvements and issues still outstanding would be nice. Thanks.
