AUTHOR INTRODUCTION

Hello everybody, HuiChi here from Opera Incubator. I would like to thank the Dash community for voting on my last proposal for Dash meetups. Our first Dash meetup was hugely successful! It was held in University College Cork and attracted 120 people, mostly computer scientists and entrepreneurs. We are hosting our next meetup in Deloitte’s Blockchain Lab European Middle East and Africa on 21st February with one of the Dash Core developers, Oleg Girko. The objectives for these meetup events have been great in terms of getting the audience familiarised with Dash and blockchain technology. We would now like to bring forward a more focused channel of educating people by doing workshops aimed at developers.

Thanks to Bradley Zastrow, Head of Business Development of Dash, for endorsing our proposal! Our first workshop will be with Chuck Williams who has already confirmed and booked his flights, to develop using Dash Evolution. We encourage anyone interested in learning about Dash Evolution to come to Berlin in March and participate!

These will be offered free of charge to Dash Core developers and there will be a discount for non-developers in the Dash community (contact me for more details - [email protected]).

OVERVIEW
Dash developer workshops allow attendees to identify common issues and opportunities in blockchain development. These workshops are aimed at developers to learn how to build Decentralised applications (Dapps) using the Dash blockchain.
The Opera Incubator team wants to run certified blockchain workshops to train developers entering this space. The goal of these practical workshops is to help developers learn more about building p2p products and services with the use of Dash.
There are currently blockchain workshops held all over the world. For example:
  • Build a Decentralised Blockchain App (You will learn how to use Solidity 3, Truffle 2 and write a complete distributed Application using Angular) - Udemy
  • Build a complete blockchain application on Hyperledger Fabric using Hyperledger Composer - Ishan Gulhane, IBM
  • IBM (https://www.ibm.com/blockchain/garage/)
  • Hackathons held by startups such as Blockie, based in Stockholm, Sweden (https://goo.gl/xaewVY).
Our team has the industry expertise to understand who is the best to bring in terms of trainers within the Dash Core group and the industry at large to ensure Dash is represented within the developer community globally. We already have a large network from working in this industry since 2012 and with being an official partner of Dash since early 2017.

PROPOSAL
Opera Incubator would like to bring workshops to the Dash community and developers all over the world kicking off in Berlin, Germany.

Learning on the job is a requirement in order to keep up to date with the latest developments of Dash - however challenges are easily encountered and difficult to overcome. Our workshops delve into the individual challenges of blockchain technology allowing attendees to upskill themselves on their current capabilities and to finetune their expertise. Those attending the training workshops will learn from leading experts in blockchain to give attendees new and deep insight into developing with Dash.
  • Expand knowledge
Our blockchain training has been designed by leaders in the industry to enable attendees to gain deeper insight and expand their knowledge into specific challenges being faced in blockchain technology.
  • Career growth
Our training delivers insights in the best practices in blockchain technology by trainers who are building and developing products with blockchain. It is also a great opportunity to meet others in the blockchain industry so that attendees can boost their career trajectory.

Workshops will be held between 1 - 2 days with 2 - 3 trainers from the industry each day. Each workshop will run for 2 - 4 hours and will start from 9am - 5pm. There will be networking and lunch breaks in between. There will be a limit to the amount of attendees to 30 maximum to allow for effective mentoring and practical work. Each individual must get personal attention from the trainer and partners.

There will be a charge for participants to attend as we will be providing the best trainers in the industry. This will go towards the cost of fees for ticketing, venue, food and expenses of our trainers and staff on the day.

All workshops will be sponsored by Dash and carry the Dash brand. There is an opportunity for Dash to sign up talented developers and bring awareness to the industry. Most people who participate in these workshops will be from corporate companies or freelance developers looking to work with this new technology.

Proposal for Dash:
  • A workshop session focused on Dash and blockchain technology and a trainer from the Dash Core Group
  • Dash sponsored marketing materials, e.g. branded camera blockers, notebooks, t-shirts, pens, etc.
  • Dash listed on our website and events page as sponsors
  • Special thanks to Dash at the start of every workshop
  • Promotion on our website, social media
  • The use of Dash payments at the networking social events after each workshop

Benefits for Dash:
  • Brand awareness to freelance developers and big corporate businesses such as Deloitte, Microsoft who offer their employees a training budget to upskill themselves
  • New signups to Dash
  • Ability to spend Dash to buy tickets and at the social events

TEAM
What will make these workshops successful? Our team mainly consist of developers who are working on our Festy product, a wearable blockchain technology using Dash for festivals, events and retail. Francois-Xavier Aeberhard is the lead engineer of Festy and has previous experience working as a developer with Ubisoft. They are experts in developing applications with Dash and are ideal trainers for our workshops. Other trainers will be selected based on their development experience.

From an organisers perspective, HuiChi Man organises Dash meetups all over the world bringing together core members of the Dash community through thematic discussions. Huichi previously worked in organising big tech conferences and is well associated with the non-blockchain industry. There is a perfect combination here to bring in both industries at our workshop whether it’s learning something new or delving deeper into the technology of blockchain.

CONCLUSION
The workshops will be limited to 30 attendees who would like to heavily learn more about blockchain developers. These are open to individuals and corporate business employees with the aim of training them on the Dash blockchain, Dapps and Dash Evolution.

With these practical workshops, it will give the Dash the opportunity to work closer with a community of developers all around the world. The Dash brand will help raise awareness of Digital Cash to bring serious talent into the ecosystem.
