One more thought... looking at the blockchain as it is, it is vastly underused compared to the nodecount today. Sometimes we see a single transaction in a block, which means we need more every day users who just want a good service and don't care about how it works. It will happen soon enough.

You should read the article, but from what I remember, the idea for smart contracts was posted on a website (public website) and stolen from it. Did that website include actual code? I don't know. It is going to be messy, as if the split blockchain isn't messy enough already.

I think unit value has a certain validity for any currency, even when comparing to a competing economy's unit value. Certainly, market cap is a better overall indication, but most people understand the unit value first and the market cap later.
