I think it would be best to make the email requirement totally optional. Is there some agenda here to gather user email to send newsletters and whatnot or what's really the point? Is it to make DASH more acceptable to exchanges and regulators?

I didn't say it does. Did you read that article? Others have created a system which functions in a similar fashion with a user ID, anonymous as well just that it won't use a blockchain to do it.

Since DASH is going the way of User ID with Evolution I think a discussion is needed about the need of using a blockchain for anonymity, since in a way this changes the ballgame to some degree. I suggest reading this article and providing your thoughts.
