If someone reads this thread with a similar question. I looked up the wikipedia page suggested on the slide. I found AMD Excavator and later are v3. Excavator came out June 2, 2015. My chip was AMD EPYC, and EPYC came out June 20, 2017 so I think I'm good to go for v3.
So I was reviewing the DCG call and noticed a new requirement on processor architecture for evo nodes.
How do I check which version microarchitecture I have? My lscpu command outputs:

So I was still getting an error and i did

Do not recommend as it seems to be re-syncing the core node. I expect that it will catch up to your node @qwizzie eventually though. Might get PoSe banned while I wait, but such is life.
So the platform chain stalled. Here's my report from an evonode.
I tried
dashmate status
and the command hung, over ten minutes went by with no output. So I did CTRL C to exit that.
Then
dashmate stop
and then
dashmate start
The node started up again and resynced. Now
dashmate status...
