Citi's Crypto

I don't think a "Morgan dollar" would be practical, but a "Citicoin" could theoretically work on top of a decentralized network. It could serve as a more sophisticated version of Coinbase with more available features, and would be used by people who do not have the desire or knowledge to store their own coins and handle their own activities. This is obviously a very centralized model, and would involve giving up lots of personal information.

Now, if Citicoin wanted to create its own blockchain, then that would be pretty much useless because I am sure they already use some form of Quicken for their internal transactions. The whole idea is that I want to be able to transact with anyone in the world by using a universally recognized currency. If an entity can provide this to me, then I am listening:
  • liquidity
  • low-friction transactions
  • safety measures with relatively little cost
  • reasonable privacy
  • transparency
  • interest-bearing investment vehicles
