Everyone has a ceiling where they spend I believe. Just a matter of having the places to spend and where the ceiling is (50, 100, 500, 1,000 ? )
Personally I think DRK has more intrinsic value than BTC so the price will be more than that of BTC ultimately.
Thanks guys  For anyone else who happens to get lost, you can enable an executable in Ubuntu 14.04 in the GUI by right clicking the binary->properties->permissions tab and clicking the box that says "enable as an executable"
le sigh.
Switched over to ubuntu 14.04 and when I attempt to execute the binary I receive "
There is no application installed for “executable” files.
Do you want to search for an application to open this file?"
I'm starting to think that I'm not meant to use DRK :(
Open Bazaar is launching later this year: http://openbazaar.org/
Here's a video of the proof of concept demonstration:
Could you elaborate on what you mean by "I think it's important to make a clean break from BTC as it is clearly the NWO coin"
All of the addresses owned by exchanges, lol. http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/#!rich
Are you concerned about whales? There's pretty good incentive to keep them from dumping. I may be missing other risks they pose.
Let's brainstorm a to do list, I'll type it up into a pdf/txt/doc and pass it around in a post so that members can step up to the plate.
Some roles that could be filled:
Tech:
-Mobile app (fork of Shildbach's app perhaps?)
-Cold wallet solution (fork of Reiner's Armory perhaps?)
-Online...
To clarify, if you compile the latest code from source you will be on the correct chain and can send and receive payments. However you will not be able to participate in the mastenode process. Correct?
Thank you so much. I've been trying to work this out for a couple of days now.
Edit: It appeared to be stuck syncing but is sailing smoothly after restarting the client.
Ouch. Perhaps I came off too strong, I can understand your reaction given my lack of reputation here and relatively new level of activity on the forum.
I would like to ask you, are any of us without an agenda?
I think of cryptocurrencies as DAO's so my agenda is to build the value of the coin...
Thank you. :) Let it be known that there is no link to the linux qt binary on the website, only a link to the source-code.

Edit: The Binary acts as if executing but no GUI comes up. This is on a x64 Debian Wheezy box. Any possible solutions?
These issues can be resolved by adopting some holacratic techniques:

http://holacracy.org/sites/default/files/resources/handouts_-_integrative_decision_making_process_v4.pdf...
The link on the Get Started page ( http://www.darkcoin.io/getstarted.html) to download the "Dark accepted here" banner redirects back to the get started page:

I've tried this on multiple platforms with the same result.
I've been a supporter of DRK since...
In the vain of steering away from the association with "illicit" activities, "Dark Send" would be much more marketable as "Private Send", "P. Send", "Safe Send", etc. IMHO. Anything that puts an emphasis on security instead of obscurity.
Perhaps this has already been discussed and decided on...
"To actually use a masternode though, you'll have to download the precompiled versions."
So there will be a precompiled version for linux in the future?
