Michael Terpin co-founded BitAngels, the world’s first angel network for digital currency startups, in May, 2013, and now serves as its chairman. The distributed angel network currently has more than 500 members, and it has made more than 25 investments in bitcoin and cryptocurrency companies with two exits and several follow-on rounds. Terpin is also co-founder and managing partner of bCommerce Labs, the first technology incubator fund focused on e-commerce companies for bitcoin and the blockchain, and a partner at Flight VC, where he helps run the AngelList Bitcoin Syndicate with legendary super-angel Gil Penchina. He also produced CoinAgenda, the first high-end digital asset investor conference, in late 2014, and co-produced the Bitcoin Investor conference in late 2015.

Terpin has spoken widely on bitcoin at leading conferences globally, including Bitcoin 2014, BitFin, CoinAgenda, Coin Congress, CoinSummit, Inside Bitcoins (Berlin, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, London, NY), La BitConf (Brazil), North American Bitcoin Show, Satoshi Roundtable, South by Southwest, and TEDx Hollywood.

In addition, Terpin is founder and CEO of Transform Group LLC, a marketing holding company that includes SocialRadius, one of the nation’s first social media marketing firms; Transform Public Relations, a global digital PR firm; Media Showcases, an events company; and Coinovate, a cryptocurrency consulting and development company. Clients include Blade Payments, Gyft, Noble Markets, Rivetz, Safe Cash and Voxelus, and projects for Augur, Bitcoin Shop, ChangeTip, Counterparty, Factom, Gem, GoCoin, KnCMiner, Kraken, MaidSafe, Omni, ShapeShift and Tether. Transform Group is headquartered in Las Vegas, with additional offices in Santa Monica and Silicon Valley. In November, he started Marketeeria, an online marketplace connecting independent marketers with companies looking to contract them.

Terpin also founded Marketwire, one of the world’s largest and most technologically sophisticated company newswires. Originally known as Internet Wire, Marketwire was acquired in 2006 for $35 million. In February, 2016, the company was acquired by NASDAQ. Terpin holds an MFA in Creative Writing from SUNY at Buffalo and degrees in Newspaper Journalism and English Literature from Syracuse University, where he serves as an advisor to its top-ranked Newhouse School of Public Communications and was inducted into its prestigious Wall of Fame in 2000. Terpin is also an investor and advisor to many media and technology companies, including ChangeTip, GoCoin, Liquipel, Purse.io, Rivetz, ShapeShift, and YouMail. He also serves as a mentor at Plug and Play’s bitcoin/fintech accelerator and at SparkLabs, a Korean technology incubator.
