{"id":31340,"date":"2019-07-02T01:20:47","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T01:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2019.dash.org\/?p=31340"},"modified":"2021-09-18T11:43:26","modified_gmt":"2021-09-18T11:43:26","slug":"tomorrow-july-2nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dash.org\/news\/tomorrow-july-2nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow July 2nd at 8AM UTC: Dash ChainLocks and LLMQ-Based InstantSend will begin to activate!"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"section section--body section--first\">\n<div class=\"section-content\">\n<div class=\"section-inner sectionLayout--insetColumn\">\n<p id=\"d033\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">We are excited to share that we will begin the process to fully activate ChainLocks and the new version of InstantSend\u00a0<strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">tomorrow, July 2, at 8AM UTC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"19f3\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">The process will start with the\u00a0<em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">deactivation\u00a0<\/em>of the \u201cold\u201d (current) version of InstantSend. The team will then wait for 24 blocks until all locks are mined or expired (approximately 1\u20132 hours). During that time,\u00a0<strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">InstantSend will not be available<\/strong>. This is to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. After all the \u201cold\u201d locked transactions are mined or expired, we will enable the new version of InstantSend using the LLMQ-Based InstantSend spork (spork 20). As described in previous posts, the new version uses long living masternode quorums (\u201cLLMQs\u201d) to lock transactions, instead of the old quorum system.<\/p>\n<p id=\"8fc8\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">After monitoring the network for about 1 hour from the activation of the new InstantSend to ensure the transition was successful, we will fully enable ChainLocks with spork 19. With DIP8 already in place, this step will allow for blocks to begin getting locked. This will also allow for \u201cchained\u201d InstantSend to begin occurring, allowing for instantly respendable payments.<\/p>\n<p id=\"a980\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Below is the anticipated timing of each step on July 2.<\/p>\n<p id=\"37d2\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">8AM UTC: Deactivation of old InstantSend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e259\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">9AM UTC*: Activation of new InstantSend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"cb72\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">10AM UTC*: Activation of ChainLocks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"d7df\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\"><em class=\"markup--em markup--p-em\">*Times are subject to change depending on how the activation process goes.
