{"id":15471,"date":"2017-10-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-17T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2019.dash.org\/2017\/10\/18\/v12-2-testing-is-now-open\/"},"modified":"2021-09-18T11:39:26","modified_gmt":"2021-09-18T11:39:26","slug":"testnet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dash.org\/news\/testnet\/","title":{"rendered":"v12.2 Testing is now open !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p>Looks like we finally had a successful migration on testnet and solved all known (critical) issues, so we are ready to start the final phase which is a public testing.<\/p>\n<p>This release includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DIP0001 implementation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/dashpay\/dips\/blob\/master\/dip-0001.md\">https:\/\/github.com\/dashpay\/dips\/blob\/master\/dip-0001.md<\/a><\/li>\n<li>10x transaction fee reduction (including InstantSend fee)<\/li>\n<li>InstantSend vulnerability fix<\/li>\n<li>Lots of other bug fixes and performance improvements<\/li>\n<li>Experimental BIP39\/BIP44 complaint HD wallet (disabled by default, should be fully functional but there is no GUI yet)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Detailed release notes:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/dashpay\/dash\/pull\/1675\">https:\/\/github.com\/dashpay\/dash\/pull\/1675<\/a>\u00a0(work in progress)<\/p>\n<p>Before testing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure you made a backup of you mainnet datadir somewhere or at least a backup of wallet.dat\/dash.conf\/masternode.conf;<\/li>\n<li>Remove testnet3 folder, old testnet is not compatible anymore, you need to sync from scratch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What\/how to test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DIP0001 is already active on testnet, so it\u2019s capable of handling 2Mb blocks now and have lower fees. If you already have a mainnet masternode on the same server, do NOT run testnet masternode in the same datadir as your mainnet masternode (i.e. <code class=\"highlighter-rouge\">.dashcore<\/code>). Create new folder specifically for testing (e.g. <code class=\"highlighter-rouge\">.dashcore_test<\/code>) and make sure you use <code class=\"highlighter-rouge\">-datadir=<\/code> cmd-line parameter for dashd and dash-cli. You\u2019ll also need a separate crontab line for testnet Sentinel.
