    Pre-Summary: The following pre-proposal has been up for voting over the last voting period in January. While the proposal was up for voting, we've contacted Dash Core and decided to resubmit it in this following period. This time and for masternodes self-reliance, with escrow arranged by Dash Core.

    Summary
    :

    Our goal is to present DASH as the first Cryptocurrency to land in Portugal supported by a “real economy” strategy. At the end of the project, the Portuguese market will get to know DASH as the first mover Cryptocurrency in their homeland, allowing 500 real stores to sell in DASH currency, on face-to-face transactions. At the same time and upholding this considerable innovation project, a broad marketing campaign will be held (TV interviews, news, blogs, fintech sites, banking, social media and other Media channels) in order to present the project concept and bring DASH as one of top of the mind Cryptocurrencies in Portugal. Portugal is a perfect market to launch such a project, as the “new economy” is the most widespread expression nowadays with intense support from the local government as the two last world Websummit have recently proved.

    On top of the above, we also believe this project takes the biggest adherence to DASH main guidelines strategy as recently presented in the “Dash Core Group Q4 2017 Summary Call”. Particularly when it comes to increase merchant adoption and diversifying finance relationships (please take in consideration our commercial Bank partner was currently awarded as "Consumers Choice 2017" in Portugal).

    Our wish is to establish and sustain a long-term partnership, continue to distribute and spread the Dash brand and we would be honored to be an enduring ambassador of Dash in the local market.

    About our company:

    The company offers an extremely innovative solution to any offline merchant. Using Parcela Ja “Point-of-Sale” terminals, merchants have the option to offer payments for their products and services from 2 to 12 installments, free of interest to their end customer while paying with Visa or Mastercard. There is a full explanation with a short video on how our unique system works on our website. We've made our first transaction in June 2017 and we've reached until now 114 stores as customers. We've recently strike a new deal for 300 new customers on a store chain willing to take DASH as means of payment.
    As a company we are willing to create market disruption when it comes to payments.
    Our mission is to expand and enhance the traditional buying solutions offered to consumers by giving them more convenient purchase options.

    About Miguel Quintas:

    Parcela Já Co-Founder and Managing Director, Miguel Quintas, is the typical entrepreneur willing to take any project up to the next level. Drive is his main asset and he’s surely willing to take any new challenging project, particularly when combining new ideas and technology and web solutions with the real economy, like the current proposal. He has 7 start-up’s in his curriculum, out of which 2 have failed, 3 are running on green numbers and 2 are making their way for the last two years (out of this last two, one is Parcela Já). Most of his Start-up’s have been and are funded by himself. Nevertheless, he uses to say “thank God I went bankrupt on my first Start-Up!”. He also has a multinational background on Mars Inc, General Motors and Amadeus (Travel IT Company), being the West Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Manager on IT Consulting Services, on the latest one.

    What are we proposing to do:

    Deploy 500 instore (Travel Agencies, Computer Stores, Optical Stores, Perfumeries, Auto Repair Shops and others) POS terminals with DASH payment functionality and vastly advertise the nationwide achievement (an interesting bulk of 500 merchants) in the Portuguese media. The achievement can also be used for worldwide advertising/news for DASH, if the community has an interest in doing so.

    To achieve our goal we will also need to develop and integrate specific software for our POS terminals, server and website, as explained further in this proposal.

    Motivation and background:

    Because we have an innovative solution, and because innovation is in our DNA, we want to bring Dash as form of payment into our POS terminals as well. Also, we believe DASH is the right partner because it is committed to low interchange fees, instant payments and the right governance model to keep investing in its own future as a wining solution for Cryptocurrencies. On top of it, we also believe there is a huge opportunity in being the first mover in the Portuguese Market when it comes to have DASH as the biggest Cryptocurrency top-of-mind recognition for the country. Therefore we’re offering a three-in-a-whole solution:

    1. Increase DASH brand awareness in Portugal and set foot to become the mostly known Cryptocurrency in the market;
    2. Keep Parcela Já market innovation statement by being the first Portuguese POS terminal to offer a Cryptocurrency payment in the country in several type of stores (apart from the current instalment payment plans);
    3. Increase Parcela Já POS terminals penetration with the help of DASH (leverage brand recognition and financing support).

    We will, of course, use exclusivity for DASH in our POS terminals.

    We also believe 500 stores is a perfectly achievable goal as recently we’ve closed a deal with a 300 Travel Agencies consortia (Airmet Portugal) to deploy our terminals in their stores.

    Benefits to DASH:

    1. First worldwide market to accept instore DASH payments on a “light bulk” basis;

    2. Broad Portuguese market (and international?) awareness on DASH Cryptocurrency (from all society sectors – economy, social and political);

    3. 10 million people market acknowledging DASH has the main Cryptocurrency in the real economy. And a 22 million tourists coming every year might also be a leverage;

    4. Enhance DASH merchant worldwide figures with 500 new merchants (to be listed in DiscoverDash and on Parcela Já website);

    5. First mover advantage over other Cryptocurrencies in Portugal

    6. Possibility to increase Portuguese market penetration up to 30.000 POS’s if current project is successful (10% of the Portuguese market)

    7. Chance to replicate the model on a European basis;

    8. We will work closely with DASH to develop and execute a successful DASH branding strategy for advertising, events, videos and any other content.

    9. DASH Cryptocurrency as an exclusive for the POS terminals

    10. Cope with DASH Core current strategy (please refer to “Dash Core Group Q4 2017 Summary Call”) of increasing merchants adoption and networking with finance companies.

    High level scope:

    The following are the project activities we will undertake:

    1. Hardware: We will need to replace our current POS terminal for new ones with a wider screen for a clear end user DASH information and QR coding purposes. This solution will also enhance the end customer purchase experience while using cryptocurrency payment.

    2. Installation: We will use our current hardware installation supplier to deploy the new POS terminals in each contracted merchant

    3. Software development:

    a) Transactional software: We will need to develop new functionalities, interfaces and integrations to accept DASH as a payment and convert it to Euros (please refer to the project development below);
    b) POS software: The new POS terminal will have to have a specific in built software to run our new application
    c) “Parcela Já” website enhancement for end customers login: To be contracted to our current website developer. It will include a front-end interface for our customers to login and check/control on their DASH payments with the following features:
    c) 1. Purchase date; Store name; Product (if available); Value; Dash exchange rate; Number of installments paid (if available/used); Number of installments left (if available/used).
    c) 2. End user interface structure allowing different users to view and or modify their personal data.

    4. Marketing and Advertising: A specific and already identified Portuguese lobbying, communication and advertising company should be hired in order to make sure we will be in all media (TV, TV interviews, news, blogs, fintech sites, banking, social media and other media channels) presenting our most innovative solution.
    Instore deliverables and advertising has also to be produced and delivered (flyers, stickers, price tags) in order to deeply activate the service and DASH brand.
    We will also hire “500 days” of instore trained stewardesses with a personalized uniform to generate customer awareness when entering any different “DASH store” and offer tailored assistance about DASH and the payment system.

    We are happy and willing to work with the DASH team on this particular and sensitive subject, to make sure we deliver the expected return.

    Terms:

    We are requesting a monthly payment of 315,71 DASH for three months on a grand total of 947,14 DASH.

    We will use the escrow service from DASH Core, and we've initiated contacts to set it up.

    In case of DASH price volatility comes to a shortfall we will be needing/requesting for extra funding. If the price brings excess payment, we would like you to consider us to expand the project regarding marketing or the number of stores to be deployed within this project.

    If the project is successful we would like also you to consider the possibility of bringing it to a whole new level, increasing the presence up to 30.000 stores (10% of the Portuguese market) in the following months/years. Thresholds should apply in order to get this market sizing.

    Project milestones control:

    We will set ourselves at your full request in terms of reporting on the project development. Nevertheless we commit to publicly present, on a monthly basis the project status. We believe control is an asset for the community and the credibility of any current and future project. So is escrow.

    We also hope you believe the project brings lots of extra value for the “DASH world”. We are keen to clarify any question you may have or incorporate suggestions and adjustments. Feedback is extremely welcome. Thank you very much.

    Hey glad to see you secured escrow!

    So does your payment solution assume the costumer already has Dash? I don't see anything relating to helping them acquire dash, which right now is a big hurdle.

    Is there a way to add Dash buy/sell functionality to the kiosks?

    I like the basics of this but it's too expensive. Get rid of the marketing stuff and pay for it yourself. As this would also benefit you I don't see why we have to pay for everything.

    And as Name3 said if you could add Dash buy/sell functionality to the kiosks that would increase the value of this proposal quite a bit.

    Hi Name3, Thanks for your message. The payment solution assumes the customer already has Dash. We are working with the Bank & our legal adviser to sort out a solution to sell and/or buy Dash through our POS, but the Bank of Portugal compliance is hard to tackle although there are a few paths we're exploring. Nevertheless this is a perseverance walk and it will never take less than 6 months once we file for the request. We understand the added value for sure and it's something we are pursuing, but we need to follow the rules. Brgds, Miguel

    Hi TheSingleton! Thanks for your comments. The marketing activities are all connected/related to Dash as a payment mean for the Portuguese market. Dash will be the first cryptocurrency to be announced in Portugal as payment reality inside the shops. No one has that advantage or has taken the lead to introduce themselves to the market. Information about Dash will be provided, peoples curiosity will raise and answers will be given supported by all marketing activities and surely it will bring Dash as a top of the mind cryptocurrency for Portugal. Dash can then use the Portuguese example as a benchmark for the world, in case willing. On top, it will definitively increase Dash world number of POS accepting our cryptocurrency (by more than the double - we currently only have 189 storefront listed).
    Regarding the buy/sell functionality I've just answered above to Name3, and I'll quote "We are working with the Bank & our legal adviser to sort out a solution to sell and/or buy Dash through our POS, but the Bank of Portugal compliance is hard to tackle although there are a few paths we're exploring. Nevertheless this is a perseverance walk and it will never take less than 6 months once we file for the request. I hope this clarifies your questions and don't hesitate to add any other comment.
    Best regards, Miguel

    While this all sounds nice how much of your own money will go into this? This proposal will you give your company a lot of free hardware and advertisement. I don't think it's too much to expect you to also provide some of the funds.

    Hi TheSingleton, On the investment side we are also part of the project, although it's not present on the proposal and therefore it might not be visible. Apart from the presented DASH investment figures we'll take on our side:
    A 3 year hardware maintenance (replacements, paper, communications, helpdesk, SLA's, ...) which is roughly the same cost as installation and the hardware itself (we're requesting from Dash).
    We will also take helpdesk service for end customers and we will also take the helpdesk service for stores. Our helpdesk will have to have trained people to explain what Dash is and how can they use it in the stores. The costs. The processes. The questions about POS operations. The refunds. The cancelations. And so forth.
    We will have to have our sales team on the field to present, to convince, sell and "envagelize" about DASH payment processes to the stores. We need to setup the selling proposition and the stores will have to agree with it. We will take the selling discussions and answer the stores questions. We will need to sign contracts and file them with Bank of Portugal (according to legislation and HUGE compliance paperwork). We will have to increase store knowledge and handover a train-the-trainer program for them to answer end customers questions.
    We will cover our team field expenses (gas, travels, meals, allowances,...).
    We will have to control the field marketing activities on 500 locations to make sure those are happening according to our demands and agreement. We will have to train the hostesses to answer end customers and stores questions once we start the "DASH 500 days on 500 stores campaign". At a smaller scale, we will have to deliver media presence on interviews and workshops.
    We will have to be DASH "ambassadors" in Portugal, so to speak.
    And yes, there is an advantage to partner with Dash. But we are also important investors in this project, as you can see.
    From the above you can see we are only requesting a fair investment from Dash as we are allocating only direct costs to DASH regarding the project.
    We believe the project can (maybe) represent some amount of money, but I can not agree it's an expensive one for Dash - particularly when evaluating all the investment we are willing to take on us to partner with Dash (both in cash and market presence).
    I hope it clarifies your questions. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in any other subject.
    Brgds, MQ

    Well, it's good to put that kind of info in the proposal otherwise it looks like we pay all the money and carry all the risk.

    I'll probably vote for your project.

    Just one more question what's your fee structure for merchants like?

    If we compare this proposal with ALT36 they were funded to built their own payment system among other things but they didn't need the marketing because they were aware of the big problem the Cannabis industry were facing with money transactions and moving it around and they approached with a solution which was well received by them.
    On the contrary, in this proposal marketing is essential to create brand awareness, in a country when talking about cryptocurrencies the bitcoin is the only talked about and few people know about the existence of other tokens. Without marketing Dash payment option will not be recognized as a alternative option to make purchases and will be just seen mostly as sticker attached in a show window promoting something fancy directed only to a restrict group and Dash will be competing with the established solutions like MB (Multibanco) owned by SIBS whom have one of the most advanced ATM network in the world regarding features availability and recently created an app for mobile, that you can use to pay everywhere that have a pos for debit cards using your phone to debit drectly your bank account.

    If in US we have projects funded aiming merchants adoption like ALT36 and a campaign displaying ads on the United Airlines targeting the same country, for me i am not concerned that we are funding the 2 things in one project due to the reason mentioned above, it turns the project complete.
    About the kiosk selling Dash and since i read a document published by BCE about two years ago classifying the tokens in existence such as game tokens and of course bitcoin, i think it will be more simple to get the necessary licenses if the kiosk was one way: fiat->dash, based on the information i read there. As a sugestion you can contact Bitnovo and see how they were allowed to sell pre-charged dash coupons at mediamarket and intermarche stores in Spain.

    Although i am biased because it's a proposal which will be executed in the country i live, the question i would like to ask what is: the level of knowledge the merchants that will accept DASH have about cryptos and if they see it as something which will attract more visitors to their stores?
    Are they fully committed with the project and will promote Dash as an option as a payment method?
    Will be any perks, discounts involved? And
    Will Core give support only in escrow or you have exchange ideas with Core about the best way for this proposal to be implemented on the field to have the best odds to be successful.

    As i said on discord you have my vote if you go forward with this proposal!

    This proposal sounds really interesting because touches a very important point as business can be.
    If we want that DASH circulate more in the market we have to make that more and more businesses accept it and for that reason I believe that this project is adequate.
    Good luck!

    Hi TheSingleton, Thanks for your recommendation. Will do so on our proposal. Our public fees for merchants starts on 1% + 0,20€ per transaction. Best regards, Miguel

    Hi Ledo, Thanks for message in describing Portugal when it comes to payments, which is in fact true. I'll explore Bitnovo suggestion as mentioned. Regarding your questions:
    They get the advantage of having a marketing campaign their are referred to; the ability to promote themselves as of being part of the first stores in Portugal accepting Crypto; customers curiosity and potential adherence to DASH; surfing the crypto a new economy wave; and of course all they can use this marketing leverage at their own will to attract customers.

    This is part of our sales team selling proposition and ability to explain the advantages. If they (stores) are willing to take the terminal, I believe they will grab the sales and marketing opportunity

    Can't tell on this one. We can think on a national DASH contest after the infrastructure is deployed. But we can't push the store into this investment.

    Up to today, we've only discussed escrow. But we are open to anythings and we do have plenty of ideas. Right now I would prefer to stay focused in this project as we also need to bring credibility to the community.

    Obrigado! ;)

    That 20cent per transaction won't be there for dash, right? Otherwise, it would negate one of the big advantages of dash.

    Hi TheSingleton, There is a cost on InstantSend. We don't want the end user/consumer to pay for it, as recommended by Core. So we have to pass it to the merchant and therefore there will be a cost, yes.

    Maybe you got info from Core that we have yet to get but atm it's always the sender that pays for instantsend. Maybe that will change with Evolution but I have not heard anything indicating that. If that is the case then okay. Though I would hope we can keep that fee around 1ct.

    Ryan has mention that's the direction Dash has to take in the future when it comes to end users to buy things. The 1 cent cost is changing as Dash price changes (when converted to fiat), as you know. We will try to keep it as low as possible. Preferably more competitive than current payment systems. But due to Dash volatility it is impossible to promise a fix cost, currently.
