Hi, my name is Tao Of Satoshi.

Most of you know me already from the forums and on Twitter, YouTube and Instagram as the Dash Dalmatian. You may remember I submitted a proposal a while back called "Tao - Community Lead". While this proposal was successful from the standpoint that it received more "yes" than "no" votes, it did not pass because it did not meet the required spread between the two. I listened to the feedback given to me by the "no" voters, and I have returned with a less political version of the proposal. In the interim, I have continued to work tirelessly to promote Dash all over the internet, and in person as well (on my vacation to Nova Scotia, Canada).

I am a very friendly person by nature, and have the ability and patience to deal with many different types of people on a regular basis. I have held a job as a Table Games Supervisor in a casino for 20 years, so I have experience dealing with people on a regular basis.

I believe deeply in Dash and in the team which creates and surrounds it. The ride we’ve been on has been incredible, we are on the cutting edge of money and being a part of that has been amazing.

It’s what led me to devote nearly 100% of my free time to promoting and explaining Dash. From my MASTERNODE SETUP GUIDE FOR DUMMIES, to my popular Twitter account, to my fledgling YouTube account, to my RebelMouse Dash Nation website, to the troll-slaying BCT Dash Nation Progress Thread, to the new Dash Nation website, to the new frontier on Steemit, my heart bleeds Dash.

So now that I’ve shown you my credentials, I will get to the point of the proposal. I have discussed this with members of the community and Evan, and ask for your support as well:

Proposal: Multimedia Community Outreach

I have taken great pride over the years being a community builder on the grassroots level. I enjoy spreading the knowledge about Dash to anyone who would listen, and I use my unlimited patience and energy to debate Dash's virtues to any trolls who would disparage it. I enjoy on-boarding new people into Dash, and then seeing their contributions as they happen. I support any initiatives to build a healthy, thriving community as these are the group of people who will use Dash, and build the snowball by telling their friends and family.

However, as I spend so much of my time doing this, I would like to know that it is appreciated. This proposal being accepted would signify to me (and my wife :) ) that the Dash investors value the efforts that I have put in, and will continue to put in as we grow, and would motivate me to work even harder to grow this community.

Current and ongoing work:

– Grow the community by reaching out to newbies via my accounts on Twitter, the forums, YouTube, Reddit, and my two personal Dash Nation websites.
– Ensure that the official Dash Twitter is up-to-date.
– Encourage people to visit Dash.org.
– Promote a strong community and reach out to outside talent to develop Dash.
– Work with my team on the Dash Slack Channel to create new and interesting ideas to promote the Dash community online and in person.
– Availability to join the team for conferences and expos to lend my personable disposition to the cause.
– Encourage the creation of Masternodes through my channels and guide.

I will also keep myself up to date about new venues to establish accounts and spread the Dash word and gain community members and involvement, such as Steemit or Synereo. It is important to be a first mover in these venues as it is an opportunity to gain exposure.

As a community builder's work is never done, I am willing to commit to this long term, as I have already. I resolve to do my job efficiently, and in as little time as possible, balancing my family and work life.

Compensation:

To do this job, I am asking for 50 Dash per month. I guarantee you, it will be money well spent. I have done a lot for Dash in two years, and I would like to do even more to propel this project forward. The initial proposal is for 6 months, after which you can re-evaluate my performance.

To progress, optimism and decentralized technology. To Dash.

Thank you for considering my proposal.

Tao

I think we need assurance from you, Tao, that you will sleep. If you become ill because you never sleep, I will feel so horrible and will blame myself for not voting no on this proposal. If I get this assurance, then I shall vote yes :)

Proposal: Telling the truth to dash community.

Dash community, would you like also someone to tell you the truth ? Nah, you dont pay for the truth, you pay only those who tell you things you like to hear. You are an irrational community, and the more you invest in marketing, the more irrational you become.

If this Tao's proposal passes, it will be yet another win of faith (the bad one, the irrational one) against rationality. Marketing bulshit has nothing really to offer for dash. In the best case, it will attract many people, it will turn dash into a bubble, and then dash will collapse. If you want to be the digital cash of the future and not yet another bubble-pyramid, you first have to be prepared for scalability, and then start inviting people.

Buzz off bad faith evangelists, buzz off marketing people, buzz off advertisers, buzz off lawyers too. Coders can change the world, and they change the world for free, as free as free software is.

Compensation:

To do this job (telling the truth) I am asking 150 Dash per month to be given to the universal dividend foundation.

If marketing and advertising is such a waste then why do really successful companies spend $billions a year on it? Coke, for example, spends $4.2Bn a year on marketing - nearly 7% of revenues. Apple spent $1.8Bn last year also... Why bother?

You want the truth? The truth is that people prefer Pepsi to Coke by a ratio of 2:1 in a blind taste test, yet Coke outsells Pepsi 2:1... Coke spends nearly double on Advertising than Pepsi. Coincidence...?! There's some truth for you...

Crypto is a very competitive space, with relatively low barriers to entry, only small variations in functionality across the projects and a base product that is free (opensource). It would be unbelievably naive to think that a crypto project could succeed and go on to dominate the industry without spending a significant amount of resources on marketing and creating a brand. Shit hot coding will not get us there on its own.

Just to clarify that point - we have very little structural/legal protection from competitive forces, our product can be copied. All we have is first mover advantage, deep pockets (relatively) and the ability to build out a network very quickly and market the hell out of it to get people on board.

It would be commercial suicide not to market and advertise our project.

How's that for truth? And you got that for free...

Here we are dealing WITH MONEY, which is one of the most peculiar and complex human inventions. We are not dealing with COCA-COLA.

Comparing money to coca-cola is irrelevant! Tottaly.. Got it?

Go drink your coca-cola (or pepsi), and let others who really understand what money is, let others who are telling the truth and do not advertise, to enlighten people about it.

You seem to have a philosophical aversion to what I do. I know it's not directed at me personally, but you just don't believe that these types of efforts will help Dash.

I, on the other hand, believe that building a strong, vibrant, involved community will pay dividends many times over through increased contributions, startups, awareness and eventual adoption. The more people on the team the better.

Dash is too good to wait for people to come to us... :D

The reason is that coca-cola is a drink. Money is money, and all goods depend on it and refer on it.

You can advertise goods, for being good. But you cannot advertise money, because money is not a good, it is a prerequisite for all goods to exist. Money is a social thing. And if you are trying to built yet another money pyramid, like the money system we have today, or like bitcoin, and you want to adverise it, then you are not telling the truth to the people. I dont like isnogood, who wants to be Khalif in the place of Khalif.

Turn DASH to time-space symmetric, and then your advetise will serve a good cause.

Well, there's a difference between advertising and marketing... and this proposal is for grass-roots marketing.. the kind of marketing that people like yourself got into dash in the first place. They're not doing it exclusively for money, they're doing it because of enthusiasm.

In the end, you should of just let the vote decide.

Of course it is not personal.
I do understand that you do not want to be the stupid anymore, offering advertising services for free while others (like amanda) are paid a lot for that.

Nonsense. Coke isn't just a drink, it's a global brand. The base product is just sugary water, what's special about that? lol Nothing, yet through good marketing and brand development there's a multi-billion dollar industry built on it that creates a lot of value. Crypto is no different.

Goods and services existed long before 'money'; currency - as I prefer to call it - comes in many shapes and forms. Anything can be currency, on a hot day in where there is no water or shops for miles around I think a crate of Coke would be very strong currency...

What makes currency exist and hold value has previously been down to government laws and enforcement. The ability of a country to transfer goods and services to other countries in exchange for gold/other currencies is what makes a country's currency valuable.

In the world of crypto we don't have Govt to force currency into use, therefore the traditional monopolies that exist in currency are completely removed in crypto. That means that Crypto is effectively a 'free market'. That means that its subject to the same market forces that apply to other goods and services, and therefore the same economic theory and principles.

Therefore marketing is very important to the future success of Dash. Without strong user adoption Dash will fail, there's no government laws to protect us and force people to use Dash.

Anyway, that's enough off-topic for today, @UdjinM6 has already given us a polite warning :)

Best of luck TAO, got my votes as well. I hope you resubmit "community lead" at some point as it was also quite an interesting idea.

I don't believe I will be going down that road again any time soon. I'm content to be a community builder here, and not get involved in political proposals. But, that's interesting to know I had your support there. Thanks!

Well, I have to disagree with you on the Pepsi thing. I can't stand the stuff, regular or diet. I way prefer classic coke (back to coke) The "new coke" tasted like pepsi and yuck. I couldn't stand it. RC cola for the sugary kind is my favorite, and I drank it when I was pregnant instead of my usual diet, but it's hard if not impossible to find around here (did they go out of business?)

Personally, I think it's just that Pepsi has more sugar/sweets. For a sip, it tastes better, but for a whole glass full, it's overwhelmingly sweet and sickening. Thus, people actually like Coke better - to drink. Even sugar free Pepsi is sweeter, plus they use that new sucralose? is just like sugar, it coats your tongue like sugar. I prefer Aspartame because it remains refreshing while giving a light flavorful sweetness, LOL

And that is why, I believe, Coke really is outselling Pepsi. Because those advertisements from the 70's and 80's were in fact working and pepsi was outselling Coke. Coke held on to their lead by a nail because of their foothold in fast food joints and soda machines. Eventually Coke made "new coke" with more sugar to compete, but got such a backlash because their fan base couldn't stand the sugar. Ultimately, both have their fans and of course choice is key.

Warren Buffet said in a speech I watched, that Coke was unique in that you don't get tired of it's flavor. I have to agree with him, though I don't know if it's true. My kids like Dr. Pepper, but they only drink a little of it at a time. I'm completely hooked on Diet coke, drink it every day undoubtedly to the detriment of my health. I add a ton of ice and let it melt in hopes of saving my kidneys and liver and anything else, LOL, but I doubt it helps. So don't misinterpret my words as making me out to be a Coke fan girl, I'm more of a user and addict, unfortunately.
