This proposal is cross-posted at www.dashcentral.org/p/conf-stockholm-201708

This proposal funds the expenses for Dash to participate and sponsor the "Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference" in Stockholm, Sweden as the General sponsor of the conference.

The Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference is one of the biggest and most influential blockchain technology conferences in Europe, which is organized by Smile-Expo and is being held in Stockholm on September 7th.

This conference will focus on Sweden and foreign projects implementing Blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Experts will share their experience of implementing Blockchain in governmental institutions (Govtech), banking systems, trading, media, healthcare and other spheres. We will discuss all the aspects of creating innovative IT products – from the emergence of idea to entering the market.

The main participants are IT developers, entrepreneurs, investors, software and equipment manufacturers. The speakers are managers of well-known companies and representatives of governmental authorities.

A General conference sponsorship provides Dash with a prime opportunity to introduce our solutions to the European market. We anticipate significant growth in our connections in Europe with local companies, and introduce Dash to potential users at the same time.

Attendees from Dash will include Fernando Gutierez, Alex Werner, and Robert Wiecko. Robert and/or Fernando will be our presenter(s) on the main stage.

We are seeking funding for a General sponsorship package, which includes the following:

  • Giving floor to Sponsor’s representatives during the forum opening and closing ceremonies
  • Possibility to speak during as a moderator
  • More advertising opportunities - 7 pieces: placement of advertising banners and roll-up stands
  • Possibility to organize events and contest games at forum and final Party on behalf of Sponsor
  • 2 work spaces in the exhibit area
  • Sponsor’s logo in event’s social network communities
Costs for the conference sponsorship total $10,330.

We will also require funding for travel and lodging for up to 3 team members. The team and event will be also supported by 2 Wachsman PR representatives on-site. We are estimating these additional expenses at $7,136. Any unused funding will be applied toward future conference events.

If you have any other questions, please direct them to @kot in this Dash Forum post to ensure I see your request.

Requested funding is as follows for the August 4th budget cycle:

  • 94.29 Dash for sponsorship and expenses for general sponsorship of the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference ($17,466 USD @ $185.24 per Dash)
  • 5.00 Dash proposal reimbursement
Total: 99.29 Dash

Note: Should any funding remain, we will apply it toward future conference and travel expenses.

Hi @Ryan Taylor

Looks like a great opportunity.

As you may know, there are members of EU parliament there, some speaking, along with many other government agencies, I'm sure. EU members are mainly socialist big government types but I think Dash has still has lots to offer them. With that in mind, I suggest that we focus the speaking topics on the treasury advantage and the economic benefits that Dash can bring to the EU.

I'm working on InstantKarma - A Charity Fund sponsored by the Treasury. This is something I hope Core will implement ASAP. I need to speak to someone at Core about this and getting Wachsmann to create a press release/PSA. See my pre-proposal rough outline here:
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/karma-charity-fund-sponsored-by-dash-treasury.16111/#post-134951
I think this is necessary to improve the image of Dash in public - giving back by working with top charitable causes and local outreach programs. Another bonus: it will be hard for EU to turn down a charitable organization. I think a "no-fee" proposal application is also a good idea for the segregated "charitable" section, as @oaxaca noted. We can raise that to 1 Dash if it generates too much spam.

The benefits that Dash brings to the economy (low processing fees, instantx, growth potential, roadmap for scaling, etc.) - are an economic boost - something all governments want, in order to maintain voter approval. Dash has so much to offer the EU, for example, where marijuana (and other non-traditional medicines) is legal, perhaps you could speak about how un-banked businesses can benefit and thrive on Dash. A related topic is that Dash complies with current regulations with ATMs and exchanges. With upcoming POS integration from likes of Alt36 and bitcart, tax accounting and above-board practices will help businesses adopt Dash for payment and facilitate the transformation to the digital cash we all hope for. It also is in line with EU directive to ban physical cash ;)

Looking forward to your feedback about InstantKarma and my suggested topics for discussion.
