Newbie Miner & Pool Questions

1st off, thanks to everyone reading & replying.

Never mined any coins before, so this is all pretty new.

After a bunch of trial and error with miners (the sg miner listed here did not seem to work for me nomatter what) I came across ccminer that supports x11. I managed to get it working, I think:

Question 1: Is there another miner I should be using or is this one "acceptable"?

Question 2: What pool should I join? I've looked around and many don't seem to be operating anymore or I couldn't sign up for some reason. I guess I'd like to join a p2p pool?

Question 3: All I need to do is edit this [stratum+tcp://drk.coinmine.pl:6090 -u yourworker.1 -p password] correct? Is this in another file or can I just type it in the command line?

Actually I am using darkcoin.miningpoolhub -- any reason to switch to darkcoin pool?

I upgraded to v1.2 of ccMiner; getting higher hashrates. I have a crappy GPU but I didn't pay for it and electricity is free. it has 4 GB of memory, so maybe there are some ways to optimize it?

Because mining pool hub has the largest hash rate of any pool. You're hurting the network by consolidating all the hash power at one entity. Coinmine is no better with their 28%.

Fun fact, regardless of the pool size you mine at, you'll receive the same payment due to variance.

What gpu do you have?
Yes change the pool to decentralise the nethash!
Where you mine now they have ~30% of all hash. Switch to darkcointalk.org pool ok?

I tried all the miners for Nvidia cards. Good results I managed to get a miner splitscreen + ccminer.
Make the necessary changes to the file start.bat and run it.
May be required library Microsoft Visual C ++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012
