When I read the description of the DashDrive in the Dash whitepaper, I have to say that I am somewhat awed by what is being proposed -- a cryptographically secured and distributed cloud database that can be read and written via distributed API. Am I correct in my understanding?

Is the DashDrive a fork of an existing project or is this entirely new?

Is this related in any way to something like the interplanetary file system? ( https://ipfs.io/ - another project that awes me)

Well I know NXT that has storage, the storage unfortunately is not limitless... is usually enough to save a hash.
