    [PROJECT ESCROWED WITH DASH-CORE]
Dashlancer: Connecting Freelancers & Businesses - Building Dash Adoption For Cross-Border Freelancing Remittances & Creating Dash Access for New Users through Work.

LINKS: PREVIOUS PROJECT UPDATES I DASH FREELANCING COURSE I FORUM DISCUSSION ON VIDEOS I RESEARCH REPORT ON FREELANCING I PRE-PROPOSAL

    SUMMARY

This project aims to build and scale up Dashlancer- A platform to match freelancing professionals and business owners for projects transacted exclusively in Dash. We aim to build a real-world business use case for Dash and help new users get access to Dash in exchange for work, especially benefiting countries with no or limited access to Dash currently.

Dashlancer creates a way for the community to spend their Dash constructively and enables employers like Treasury proposal owners to directly pay Freelancers in Dash, without converting to Fiat - a painful process for many. Freelancers gain significantly by getting dash designated work, saving on high remittance fees(~8-10%) and getting paid instantly and for a low cost, anywhere in the world.

Our Custom illustrated Video on Dashlancing. 225,000 Views

The Treasury creates countless jobs every year across Web / Mobile Development, Marketing, Graphics, Video Animation and Design. Most of these jobs listings are scattered. By aggregating those jobs(to begin with) and matching them with quality freelancing talent, this project can facilitate a number of Dash Transactions and demonstrate adoption in the $100B market for Cross-Border Freelancing Remittances before scaling up to more users.

This project will build upon our previous work that researched the online freelancing industry, created a Digital Course (See Course) to educate online workers about Dash.

Our previous project yielded over 800 freelancer signups interested in Dash based work opportunities and our course videos were viewed ~800,000 times across Asia on Youtube alone.

In our research, we also found that Conventional Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr earn up to 25% of their revenues via additional / hidden charges around remittances and currency conversions - Explaining their disinterest in integrating cryptocurrencies like Dash.

Freelancers are a high-value and technically advanced set of users and make for an ideal early adopter set. With InstantSend, PivateSend and near-zero fee transactions, Dash is a practical solution for Freelancers to conduct their business - creating ideal conditions for adoption.

Additionally, By advertising jobs instead of direct-crypto, we aim to steer clear of the google and Facebook advertising restrictions, while parallelly building up a strong presence on Steemit and Dtube.

This project is led by Gaurav Gupta, a Marketing Technologist with a background in marketing for a Talent & Freelancing platforms. The project involves an outlay of 120 Dash/month for 4 months and supports a team of 10 members and a marketing budget.

CROSS BORDER MONEY TRANSFERS : EXPENSIVE AND SLOW

Freelancers are heavily shortchanged by legacy systems like Paypal and Wire Transfer. They lose significant portions of their incomes to companies like Paypal, Western Union, Moneygram via currency conversion costs, transfer fees and a plethora of hidden charges. In addition, they face long delays, suffer chargeback frauds and arbitrary frozen funds.

A median $5,000 cross-border remittance costs $300 to send and takes weeks to process for a large majority of Freelancers today, especially those reaching the developing countries like India, Philippines, Venezuela, Turkey, Argentina.

FREELANCING PLATFORMS : A PART OF THE PROBLEM?

Organized Freelancing platforms like Upwork and Fiverr are built around the same legacy remittance systems. Our research shows that they make a significant portion of their revenues via (additional) hidden charges around currency conversions, wire transfer fees and outward remittances, making it difficult for them to integrate with currencies like Dash without losing a large revenue stream.

While integration with blockchain systems is a trivial problem technically, the loss of a such a large revenue stream for freelancing platforms makes it a difficult decision for them to implement blockchain based systems.

DASHLANCER : DEVELOPMENT AIMS, TIMELINES & METHODOLOGY

Dashlancer will be engineered as a simple-to-use platform, that offers a clean, modern and responsive design to all users.

The platform will demonstrate how simple and inexpensive it can be to hire and pay workers with Dash globally.

Project development will be based on the Agile-development approach with 2-week long sprints. Starting with UI/UX, the project intends to build a feature set, followed up by testing with a small group of users to check responses before building further.

The platform aims to offer the following features :
    1. Add, Manage, Edit, Mark and Categorise Project Listings
    2. Preview Listings before posting
    3. Company Profiles
    4. Searchable Listings Database
    5. Resume Management System for Freelancers
    6. Jobs Suggest
    7. Clean/Modern Interface for Resume Viewing
    8. Apply, Manage and Review Project Applications
    9. Customised Tags, Permanent / Agency / Temporary
    10. Project alerts
    11. Filter by Tags
    12. Project Bookmarking System
    13. Embeddable Widgets on websites
    14. Live Customer Support
    15. Review and Rating System
    16. Dash Payments Integration
The development of the project is expected to be completed in 8 Sprints, spread across 4 Stages.

    PRICING & COST TO USERS

As a project to initially scale Dash Adoption and build use in the digital services industry, we believe it is important to offer a zero-fee experience to both parties. Dashlancer will allow freelancers and businesses to transact without any extra charges.

MARKETING PLAN : A GROWTH MARKETING APPROACH

As a two-sided platform, we plan to take a different multichannel marketing approach to each side of the equation through a lean and efficient data driven process. There are three major parts to our marketing strategy:

    1) Dash Network Collaborations

    2) Aggregating Job Listings

    3) Onboarding Freelancers

    1. DASH NETWORK COLLABORATIONS

As part of our core strategy, we aim to collaborate deeply with a number of other Dash funded projects and work closely with them to :
    1. Help them list their talent requirements on our platform with salaries/gig prices designated in Dash and match Freelancers to their needs.

    2. Identify the kind of traffic they are generating and funnel a part of their traffic into the Dashlancer platform as a use-case for Dash.
Many countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe amongst others have highly inflation-prone currencies, making it difficult for talented individuals to be able work easily online.

    2. SCALING JOB LISTINGS

To build a steady stream of projects on the supply side, we intend to reach out to all Treasury approved Project owners to begin with and ascertain their hiring needs for the duration of their project and help set up work listings.

To increase outreach to the community beyond this immediate ecosystem, we intend on working closely with all Dash group-information sites and requesting them for banner advertisement space. This is to ensure we are visible to the larger Dash ecosystem.

We intend to develop educational videos to explain features of the platform to new project owners and create a smooth onboarding experience.

Some specific programs we intend to run:

    a) Logo Giveways : Free Logo Design Giveaways for Signup

    b) Dash-Backs: Cash-backs for spending Dash to hire freelancers.

    c) Dream-Job Promotions: Promoting select / high in-demand jobs as an acquisition channel to get users to signup organically.

    3. ACQUIRING & ACTIVATING FREELANCING TALENT

As part of our previous project, we developed an extensive course & marketing methodology to market Dash to Freelancers with an ongoing campaign on slow burn to reach out to Freelancers across South Asia.

We aim to build upon this campaign by carefully measuring and doubling down on specific performing segments. Some prominent methods:

Personal Outreach (30%) : We intend to personally reach out to a number of Talented Individuals to come and become a part of this growing ecosystem. Given that the best talent isn’t always looking for opportunities, we believe this method can be highly effective for bringing in talent.

Content Marketing & Distribution on Dtube and Steemit (30%) : We aim to create and heavily promote a video channel on Dtube and a steemit profile to promote the dashlancing platform. We see these decentralised apps as an exciting opportunity to gain early adopters to the Dashlancing concept.

Linkedin Ads (20%) : Targeting Freelancers and Other users for jobs through Linkedin Ads is likely to be an effective method of attracting high-quality talent. We aim to utilise Linkedin extensively to recruit talent for the platform.

Youtube / Facebook (20%) : We intend to run Youtube ads to target freelancers to signup on our platform. The exact mix depends on the performance of each channel. We intend to continue running multiple variations of advertising and building a larger pre-signup list for launch on Facebook . At launch, we intend to scale up this campaign to find talent for specific roles and opportunities.

*Our advertisements have been unaffected by the recent changes to Facebook policy since we are largely promoting Dash through our educational course. In the unlikely case the advertisements are blocked, we intend to move this budget to decentralized platforms, which we see as the future.

    Public Relations Blitz

Along with the launch of the platform, we will run an extensive Public Relations Campaign to bring wider coverage to Dash through this project.

We intend to reach out to magazines, blogs, influential technology and news platforms to cover Dashlancer and bring up further credibility, visibility and users. We intend to bring a PR professional team onboard to achieve this.

As a Marketing Technologist for Squads.com, he has extensive experience of working in the Global Freelancing Industry.

He offers an alternate approach to marketing and usability for Technology Products, side-stepping the need for large marketing spends to increase product adoption.

    BUDGET

The budget is spread across 4 months and the work-plan is divided into 16 Sprints overall. Apart from Adspends that still need to be paid in Fiat Currency, most of the other salaries will be paid in Dash. Dash price has been assumed to be $400.

Here is a detailed budget plan :

This project involves an outlay of 120 Dash/month for 4 months and supports two separate Marketing budgets and a Project team of 10 members.

DASH NETWORK : RETURN ON INVESTMENT
    1. Dash Adoption : Building a strong use-case for Dash in the payments space for Digital services industry grows dash-centric commerce. Supply chains are short, people-to-people based and can be entirely serviced by Dash’s unique strengths like InstantSend. Freelancers are the ideal set of adopters for Dash.

    2. Technically proficient Userbase : Digital services are one of the best bets for Dash adoption. A large & growing market, very low cost of acquisition and technically-savvy users with propensity to use better systems make the freelancing industry an obvious choice for Dash-use. With no point-of-sale requirements, freelancers can switch to Dash immediately once aware of the benefits.

    3. Increases Talent pool : By focusing on the Dash Ecosystem to begin with, this project potentially adds a rich vein of talented engineers, marketers and designers to the Dash community, acting as a potential force-multiplier for projects to hit the ground running with talented employees / sub-contractors.

    4. Eliminates Fiat-Conversion Step : Converting Dash to Fiat to pay for salaries can be a convoluted step for proposal owners, even more so across different geographies. In the absence of unambiguous laws, converting crypto-currency into cash to pay salaries leaves behind a blaze of paperwork and complicated tax compliances for proposal owners to deal with.

    5. Creates Dash Access For New Users in Non-Dash Regions: Many regions in the world lack access to Dash due to regulations and/or hyperinflation. Through Dashlancing, Dash can be earned for work, creating an alternate path for Dash to be sustainably spread globally without borders. Countries like India, Phillippines, Zimbabwe and Venezuela can benefit significantly from Dash based work.

I like the idea, have you reached out to the Dash Core team about escrow though? This is quite a large budget to request for an unknown entity without signing an escrow agreement.

This could be especially powerful if the marketing efforts were combined with Dashinformer

    Hi name3.

Thank you for taking the time to review this. We have reached out to Dash Core for this.

This proposal is a follow up to our Research & Education Project in the Freelancers Industry
As part of that project, we built a platform to educate freelancers about using Dash for Payments.

Attaching a video from our digital course that aims to explain the money-transfer process to New Dash users.

Here are all the updates. Here is the research report from that project.

We will definitely reach out to the Dashinformer Team as you suggested, they have done some great work!

    Best,
    Gaurav

Why don't you make video to teach people using Dash Wallet instead of Jaxx?

    Hi Bhkien !

Our first choice was really to cover the Dash Wallets.

However, in our initial test, we received some feedback that new users found Dash Desktop Wallet a little difficult to handle.

Given that we were targeting new users with limited bandwidth(India/SriLanka/Nepal etc), we wanted something multi-platform, light, easy and something that offered good mobility.

From the given options on the dash wallets page at the time, we picked Jaxx because it was light weight, easy to use and multi platform; features that new users might appreciate.
Also the fact that it was used for other campaigns made us choose it.

We plan to cover the dash wallets with videos in the near future and try and give users more choice.

I must mention that it is one of your posts on the forum that has helped us understand the different kinds of wallets better! :)

Many thanks for your interest and support all along!

    Best,
    Gaurav

My only gripe with this, and not just this project, is that you've put "dash" in the title. Personally, I would prefer a non-dash name and let people discover that dash is the base currency. This way, your message would be "helping freelancers is our primary objective", while also implying that dash is the natural choice for such things.

    Hi @GrandMasterDash !

I see your point, however, we zeroed in on Dashlancer keeping three things in mind :

    a) While Dash is well-known in the crypto-space, we feel there was a need to build name recognition outside it.

There are only a few people who have heard of Dash in Asia outside the crypto-sphere for instance. To use Dash
in the title is to try and increase the name recognition, through direct marketing and later PR Outreach.

    b) The platform proposes to use just Dash as a central currency and no other coin. By picking out another name,
people might expect integration with other coins for instance and be disappointed when they don't find it.

    c) The name dash itself has connotations of speed and initiative and in just 4 letters.
Standalone, we felt it made for a good name.

Thank you for taking the time to review, appreciate your feedback! :)

I agree with Name3 on all points. Take this into serious consideration. I rarely want to say no to a proposal, but we have to begin taking a harder stance on this.

Good evening @Gaurav_Gupta, I researched the proposal a lot and I like it a lot, I think it can have a good future and can generate a lot of Dash wallets for the freelancers community.

I want to offer my support and, if possible, to comment on a proposal I have been working with my team for a long time which consists of the creation of a freelance web portal that works with Dash as a payment method!

I would like to have your feedback about this proposal and if you have any advice on how we could improve our proposal, it would be excellent !.

Together we can include dash in a market that can have a great impact on the Dash community.

If you want to contact me and I will tell you a little more about my proposal.

I wish you the best of luck with your proposal, to be approved and help the Dash community.

    Dear @Gaurav_Gupta
After 4 months of funding, how much will this project cost per month?
Do you plan to become financially independent in the future?
If so, how will you finance yourself?
Do you know that most private companies doing the same activity are in deficit, what more do you have than all the others in this sector to become self-sufficient?
Don't you think that when Evolution is released, it will be possible for everyone to offer their services directly in Dash? And to have an equivalent tool via Daps?

    Hi @JOL

Thank you for some thoughtful questions !

We expect the ongoing Operations, Support Maintenance and Upgrades costs to fall below 50 Dash/ Month.

Sustainability is a key issue that we have thought about extensively. We believe to get to break even, it would be very important to lower marketing costs over time and scale up through referrals and word of mouth beyond the first major set of users and grow through network effects.
Since our unique selling point will be “Zero Fees”, which we hope will help us build organic traffic and keep acquisition costs low, we would not like to impose any commissions on transactions.

Instead, We have some ideas for premium services for companies such as

    a) Finders fee for Elite Technical Talent.
    b) Hosting sponsored Hackathons.
    c) Charging for Dream Job Promotions.
    d) "Top-Talent Auctions"

We hope this should cover a part of our costs, if not cover them entirely. More ideas will emerge along the way which we would love to experiment with.

Most private companies are usually under pressure from Venture Capitalists to keep growth rates unsustainably high. This forces them to invest in unsustainable discounts and marketing spends, even when their cost of acquisition is far more than Customer Lifetime Value. This is the main reason why they continuously need to raise bigger rounds of investments and become loss making.

Being a community driven non-profit initiative, we would be free from the pressure to grow at all costs. We would be able to focus on growing sustainably by keeping a close watch on unit-economics, balancing costs and growth.

We are excited about evolution and hope to eventually integrate as closely as possible with it. While evolution will make it simple to transact, there will still be a need to help match Freelancers/Job seekers with Businesses. That is where we seek to position ourselves in the post evolution era.

    Best regards,
    Gaurav

    @Gaurav.Gupta,

This services is a good thing from my point of view.

Totaly free, im not sure is the best way. There is a diference with 25% commision and 1 to 5% or 0.5% or 0.1% ....

The bigest point for me it does at Evolution we dont loose this all ?.
Does we have to finance every this work again ?
Or simply does Evolution remplace this by Daps natively ?

Do you contact CORE about that ?

I like to have comments from core dev about that point
    @
    Tank you.

    Thanks, @JOL

We are open charge a small fee , when the project is a little further along.

I believe we would need to create an additional native dapp for this, which we should be able to manage within ongoing expenses.

There will be little overlap, if at all. The major work relating to users and transactions would be seamlessly transferred.

I will reach out to core dev and update you on any further information on this !

    Best,
    Gaurav

    I like this proposal.

My only concern is its centralized nature. This is a layer2 Dash application, and all layer2 applications are by nature centralized. I would like the data of this application to be implemented as layer1, and stored if not directly into the dash blockchain, at least in a database similar to the sentinel database (which is a database that resides in all masternodes). The reason for this is because I would like to see this alternative budget system to evolve, and maybe oneday substitute the primitive budget system of sentinel.

For your reference, I remind two old pre-proposals of mine.
    https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/...uch-do-you-pay-for-someone-to-do-a-job.15065/
    https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/...-way-to-propose-proposal-in-the-budget.12798/

What you are trying to implement as a centralized layer2 service, could be implemented as decentralized layer1 service in case smart contacts were allowed/implemented in dash cryptocurrency. But unfortunately smart contracts capability requires code to be writen on behalf of the core team. Is anyone of those 27 Dash core developers capable to implement a smart contract language for dash? I really doubt about it....

    @Gaurav.Gupta

What I find interesting about this proposal is that it can convert two segments to Dash. On the one hand the service vendors and on the other the buyers. For that indeed a reduced or non-existent cost for both aftermath is an attractive point for start. Provided the tool is well made (practical and visually appealing). That the services offered are of quality, by which I mean that it is not a scam nest.

I also think that in Venezuela and Africa our communities would be happy to be able to say at their conferences "do you want Dash? do you have any skills? register at..."
This project can lead to the use of Dash

    Its an yes.
    Regards

    Hi @JOL

Thank you so much for your support and taking the time to review our work !

We are collaborating with @TechSquad and @Pasta, the technical team behind Dashboost( Dash Micro-Treasury) to jointly build our shared vision.
As you mentioned, Dashlancer can be a force multiplier for other projects, giving new users easy market access while building adoption.

Dashlancing can bring in a young, skilled and enthusiastic demographic, without giveaways, in exchange for work.

We aim to build synergy with all Dash Conferences to engage freshly acquired users with meaningful work opportunities.

Our platform would solve three important problems:

    a) Reduce selling pressure on Dash by increasing absorption of Dash as circulating capital in the Freelancing Ecosystem.
    b) An opportunity for new users to Earn Dash, anywhere in the the world.
    c) Onboarding Fresh & Skilled Workers into the Dash Ecosystem.

Using data-driven lean marketing and agile development, we hope to deliver strong returns for the Dash Network, given an opportunity !

    Best Regards,
    Gaurav Gupta
    Team Dashlancer

Hi! Like this proposal, I have a question, if I need the developer services for a dash project, could I get a discount or it's the same price for a not dash project? Thanks :)

We plan to give dash-backs to project owners in the beginning to incentivise use.

You would be able to utilize the platform for any kind of hiring, however the payments will have to be made exclusively in Dash.

Perfect, I have a project in proposal and requires freelancers, I believe that to strengthen our ecosystem we must create spaces where we can execute our budget only in Dash, this would help with the transparency of our execution and is consistent with our vision. Thanks @Gaurav_Gupta

    @María Victoria Díaz

Yes exactly. We would love to collaborate with projects like @AgroCognitive and help your team recruit Talent directly with Dash.

I will reach out to you once I have more information about how to go about hiring with Dashlancer.
