Can I use dash-cli in order to get info from a dash-qt wallet?

I start my qt-wallet, and I can get masernodes information by using the tools window.

Is it possible, while dash-qt is up and running, to get the same information by executing ./dash-cli from the command prompt of a shell script?
How do I configure dash.conf, in order for the qt-wallet to receive the rpc calls of the dash-cli promt command?
When I execute dash-cli, it tells me that it cannot connect to the server.
